    Abstract: A liquid metal or spiral groove bearing structure for an x-ray tube and associated process for manufacturing the bearing structure is provided in which journal bearing sleeve is formed with a number of structures thereon that function to dissipate heat transmitted to the sleeve during operation of the bearing assembly within the x-ray tube to minimize thermal deformation of the sleeve, thereby minimizing gap size alteration within the bearing assembly. The structures formed within the sleeve are slots disposed within the section of the sleeve in which the highest temperature gradients develop. The slots enable an increase in thermal conductance away from the sleeve while minimizing the stresses created from the deformation of the portion(s) of the sleeve between the slots.

    Abstract: An X-ray arrangement includes a vacuum vessel, a rotating anode and a rotor of an electrical machine being non-rotatably interconnected rotatably mounted in the vacuum vessel, a stator being disposed in a region of the rotor, externally enclosing the vacuum vessel. The stator includes a laminated core which, viewed orthogonally to the axis of rotation, includes a yoke running around the axis of rotation and from which stator teeth extend onto the axis of rotation. A winding system is disposed in spaces between the stator teeth of the laminated stator core. The winding system includes windings, individual turns of the windings each being configured to respectively engage over a plurality of the stator teeth, and the stator being designed such that when identical phase voltages are applied to the individual phases of the winding system, the individual phases are each respectively configured to produce stray magnetic fields of identical magnitude.

    Abstract: A process for repairing a damaged annular region of an anode configured to emit x-rays includes the step of machining the damaged annular region made of an initial target coating to a depth smaller than a thickness of the coating so as to leave behind a residual annular layer. An intermediate layer is then deposited on the residual annular layer. A repairing layer is then deposited on the intermediate layer. A heat treatment is then performed using an anneal which causes, by interdiffusion and formation of a solid solution, the material of the intermediate layer and the material of the residual annular layer to diffuse into each other and further cause the material of the intermediate layer and the material of the repairing layer diffuse into each other. As a result of this anneal the intermediate layer disappears.

    Abstract: An X-ray generator comprising a target for receiving electrons and generating X-rays, a separator for dividing an internal space of the target into a coolant inflow path and a coolant outflow path, a motor for rotating the target, and a coolant inflow path and a coolant outflow path for supplying a coolant to the coolant inflow path and recovering the coolant through the coolant outflow path, wherein the separator rotates in the same rotation direction as the target when the target rotates. In the X-ray generator in which a coolant inflow path and a coolant outflow path are provided by a separator inside a rotating target, reduced torque load and reduced vibration can be realized.

    Abstract: An analytical X-ray tube with an anode target material that emits characteristic X-rays in response to excitation by an electron beam may include any of several advantageous features. The target material is deposited on a diamond substrate layer, and a metal carbide intermediate layer may be provided between the target material and substrate that provides enhanced bonding therebetween. An interface layer may also be used that provides an acoustic impedance matching between the target material and the substrate. For a low thermal conductivity target material, a heat dissipation layer of a higher thermal conductivity material may also be included between the target material and substrate to enhance thermal transfer. The target material may have a thickness that corresponds to a maximum penetration depth of the electrons of the electron beam, and the structure may be such that a predetermined temperature range is maintained at the substrate interface.

    Abstract: Provided is an X-ray generator having: an anode that faces a cathode which generates electrons; a plurality of X-ray generation zones; a casing housing the cathode and the anode; an anode support body for supporting the anode; an air cylinder for producing advancing and retreating movement of the anode support body with respect to the casing; and a stopper device that halts the movement of the anode support body when the anode support body moves in a direction approaching the casing.
