Abstract: The present invention provides an optical surface which is able to mix different wavelengths into a light pattern which contains all wavelengths evenly distributed across the pattern. The novel optical surface extends in at least two Cartesian base dimensions (X, Y), whereby a cross-section of the surface taken in either of said two Cartesian base dimensions (X, Y) features a first plurality of protuberances which extend to the same direction in a third Cartesian dimension (Z). The cross-section of the optical surface also features a second plurality of protuberances which extend to the opposite direction as the first plurality of protuberances in the third Cartesian dimension (Z). The pluralities of protuberances form converging and diverging optical shapes for mixing different wavelengths scattering from the optical surface.

Abstract: An optical device for modifying a light distribution is made of transparent material and includes a front wall constituting a front portion, a coupling portion for connecting to a light source system, and side walls between the coupling portion and the front portion. The front wall is configured to let through a first part of light emitted by the light source, and the side walls are configured to let through a second part of the light. The side walls have grooves that refract at least 80% of the second part of the light obliquely rearwards with respect to a direction from the coupling portion to the front portion. Thus, the optical device can be used for illuminating both a floor and a ceiling so that light emitted to unwanted directions and potentially causing glare can be kept at a low level.

Abstract: An optical device includes first and second optical elements rotatable with respect to each other around a geometric optical axis of the optical device. The first optical element includes a first surface for modifying a distribution of light exiting the first optical element, and the second optical element includes a second surface facing towards the first surface and for further modifying the distribution of the light. One of the first and second surfaces includes convex areas whereas the other one of these surfaces includes concave areas so that an optical effect of the optical device is changeable by rotating the first and second optical elements with respect to each other. The first and second optical elements include sliding surfaces for mechanically supporting the second optical element with respect to first optical element in radial directions perpendicular to the geometric optical axis.

Abstract: An optical device includes a reflector-section that includes a light-ingress surface for receiving light from a light source, a reflector surface for reflecting the light based on total internal reflection, and a light-egress surface through which the reflected light exits the optical device. When the light source is at a predetermined position with respect to the optical device, an angle of incidence (θi) of the light at the light-egress surface is a polarization angle at which a p-polarized component of the light is transmitted through the light-egress surface without being reflected by the light-egress surface. Thus, unwanted reflections at the light-egress surface can be reduced and thereby unwanted scattering of light is reduced while having good transmitting efficacy.
