    Abstract: A tire for vehicle wheels comprises a tread band (2), on which a first circumferential rib (14) is formed, on which a plurality of first notches (20) are formed, which extend as a whole over at least 80% of the width of the first circumferential rib and each of which comprises: ⋅ i. a first portion (21) which is substantially rectilinear and has a first inclination with respect to a circumferential direction, ⋅ ii. a second portion (22) which is substantially rectilinear and has a second inclination with respect to the circumferential direction having a sign opposite to said first inclination, and ⋅ iii. a connecting portion (23) that extends between said first portion and said second portion; respective pluralities of the second and the third notches (30; 40), which are blind and substantially parallel to the first (21) and the second portion (22), respectively, of said first notches (20), are further formed on the first circumferential rib (14).

    Abstract: A method for checking tyres, includes: arranging a tyre in a station for checking tyres; moving a sensor within the tyre; performing first checks on an inner surface of the tyre with the at least one sensor; engaging a radially outer portion of the tyre with grip elements of an overturning device; extracting the sensor from the tyre and spacing the sensor from the tyre; overturning the tyre by 180° by rotation of the grip elements; moving again the sensor within the tyre; performing second checks on the inner surface of the tyre with the sensor; extracting again the sensor from the tyre and spacing the sensor from the tyre; and transporting the tyre outside the station for checking tyres.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for applying noise reducing elements to tyres for vehicle wheels. Noise reducing elements (12), all equal to each other, are fed in succession on a conveyor (20) according to a predetermined path and are oriented on the predetermined path all in the same way. Tyres (2) of different sizes (C, P) are fed in succession on a conveyor (20) up to an application station (34). In the application station (34), the noise reducing elements (12) are picked up from the conveyor (20) and applied to radially inner surfaces of the tyres (2). The application comprises: arranging the noise reducing elements (12) with the larger dimension (L) directed in a circumferential direction or arranging the noise reducing elements (12) with the larger dimension (L) directed in an axial direction as a function of the sizes (C, P) of the tyre (2) in which they are applied.

    Abstract: A method for controlling the laying down of components of tyres on forming drums, includes: sending a first electromagnetic radiation on a first laying down structure including a forming drum and a first component of a tyre laid down on the forming drum; detecting at least a first corresponding reflected radiation, determining as a function of the first reflected radiation a first parameter representative of a first main length of the first component; comparing the first parameter with one or more pre-stored reference values; generating a first correction signal as a function of the comparison; and sending the first correction signal to at least one preparation station adapted to prepare the first component to regulate the preparation of further components. An apparatus for controlling the laying down of components of tyres on forming drums is also described.

    Abstract: A process for manufacturing tyres for vehicle wheels, comprising the step of building on a forming support a carcass structure comprising at least one carcass ply and, at at least one end edge of the carcass ply, at least one annular anchoring structure comprising at least one substantially circumferential annular insert and at least one filling insert associated to said at least one substantially circumferential annular insert. The step of building the carcass structure comprises the steps of positioning the annular anchoring structure on the carcass ply by moving the annular substantially circumferential insert into contact with an end edge of the carcass ply by means of a special positioning member, pulling down the filling insert on the end edge of the carcass ply and turning up a free end portion of the end edge of the carcass ply so as to form a turned up end portion of the carcass ply including said annular anchoring structure. The pulling down of the filling insert on the end edge of the carcass ply is carried out by a special pulling down member while the substantially circumferential annular insert is retained into a contact position with the end edge of the carcass ply by said positioning member.

    Abstract: A tyre for vehicle wheels comprises a support structure and a tread band arranged in a radially outer position with respect to the support structure. The support structure comprises a plurality of hybrid reinforcing cords (10) each having a plurality of monofilament textile wires (20) twisted to at least one multifilament textile yarn (30). In any cross section of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10), at least one portion of at least one monofilament textile wire (20) of said plurality of monofilament textile wires (20) defines a first radially outer surface portion of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10) and at least one portion of said at least one multifilament textile yarn (30) defines a second radially outer surface portion of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10).
