Abstract: A system can include a non-light-emitting, variable transmission device a controller coupled and configured to provide power to the first non-light-emitting, variable transmission device; and a router configured to provide power and control signals to the first controller. In an aspect, the controller includes a first connector; the router includes a second connector; and a cable including a third connector and a fourth connector at different ends of the cable. The first and third connectors are coupled to each other, and the second and fourth connectors are coupled to each other. In another aspect, the system can include other non-light-emitting, variable transmission devices, and controllers. The system can be configured to perform a method of controlling the system that includes determining power requirements for the controllers and allocating power to the controllers corresponding to the power requirements.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of manufacturing a motherboard is disclosed. The motherboard can include one or more electrochromic devices. The apparatus can include a central processing unit that executes instructions. The instructions and method can include mapping the motherboard, analyzing one or more electrochromic devices within a batch to determine a yield of each of the one or more electrochromic devices, prioritizing the one or more electrochromic devices based on the yield, and placing a first electrochromic device on the motherboard, where the first electrochromic device has the highest priority of the one or more electrochromic devices within the batch.

Abstract: An electrochromic device and method of forming the same is disclosed. The electrochromic device can include a first transparent conductive layer, an electrochromic layer, an electrolyte layer, a counter electrode layer, a second transparent conductive layer, and an adhesion layer between the counter electrode layer and the second transparent conductive layer, where the electrochromic device can undergo at least 2,000 cycles in a Nylon brush test before type 2 defects form. The method can include depositing an electrochromic layer over a first transparent conductive layer, depositing an electrolyte layer, depositing a lithium layer, depositing a counter electrode layer over the lithium layer, depositing a second transparent conductive layer, and heating the layers to form an electrochromic stack, where the lithium layer is combined with the counter electrode layer.

Abstract: An electrochromic device is structured to selectively switch separate regions to separate transmission levels, based at least in part upon different respective sheet resistances of separate conductive layer regions. Sheet resistance of a conductive layer region can be associated with a transmission level to which a corresponding EC stack region can be switched, and a conductive layer with separate regions having separate sheet resistances causes corresponding EC stack regions to switch to different transmission levels. Sheet resistance in a conductive layer region can be adjusted via various processes, including introducing various chemical species into the conductive layer region to adjust a chemical species distribution in the region, where the chemical species distribution is associated with the sheet resistance of the region, heating conductive layer regions to induce oxidation of the region, adjusting the thickness of a conductive layer region, etc.
