Abstract: Disclosed herein, among other things, are systems, apparatus and methods for directional microphone accessories for hearing device applications. An apparatus includes a base, at least one strap configured to attach the base to a top portion of a seat back, and a pivoting mount configured to be attached to the base, the pivoting mount configured to hold a directional microphone assembly. The pivoting mount is further configured to maintain the directional microphone assembly in an approximately horizontal orientation independent of a recline angle of the seat back.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a hearing device and a system including such device are disclosed. The hearing device can include an enclosure having a front housing and a rear housing, and an isolator disposed between the front housing and the rear housing. The isolator includes a body and a sleeve disposed on the body. The front housing and the rear housing are connected to the sleeve of the isolator. The device further includes a microphone disposed in the front housing, a receiver disposed in the rear housing, an acoustic port that extends through the isolator body between the receiver and an opening disposed in a first end of the front housing, and a microphone port that extends between the microphone and the opening disposed in the first end of the front housing.

Abstract: An ear-wearable device stores a plurality of neural network data objects each defining a respective neural network. A sound signal received from a microphone of the ear-wearable device is digitized. An ambient environment of the digitized sound signal is classified into one of a plurality of classifications. Based on the classification, one of the neural network data objects is selected to enhance the digitized sound signal. An analog signal is formed based on the enhanced digitized sound signal. The analog signal is reproduced via a receiver of the ear-wearable device.

Abstract: A hearing device includes a deep/recurrent neural network trained to jointly perform sound enhancement and feedback cancellation. During training a neural network is connected between a simulated input and a simulated output of the hearing device. The neural network is operable to change a response affecting the simulated output. The neural network is trained by applying the simulated input to the deep neural network while applying the feedback path response between the simulated input and the simulated output. The deep-neural network is trained to reduce an error between the simulated output and the reference audio signal and used for sound enhancement in the device.

Various embodiments include a method of signal processing an input signal in a hearing assistance device, the hearing assistance device including a receiver and a microphone. The method includes performing neural network processing to train a processor to identify acoustic features in a plurality of audio signals and predict target outputs for the plurality of audio signals, and using the trained processor to control frequency translation of the input signal.

Abstract: A set of one or more processing circuits obtains eye movement-related eardrum oscillation (EMREO)-related measurements from one or more EMREO sensors of a hearing instrument. The EMREO sensors are located in an ear canal of a user of the hearing instrument and are configured to detect environmental signals of EMREOs of an eardrum of the user of the hearing instrument. The one or more processing circuits may perform an action based on the EMREO-related measurements.

Abstract: Disclosed herein, among other things, are apparatus and methods for an automatic hearing loop memory for hearing assistance systems. A method includes receiving an acoustic input at a microphone and receiving an inductive input at a magnetic sensor. The method further includes using an operatively connected processor of the hearing assistance system to process the acoustic input from the microphone using instructions stored in a first set of memory locations, and to process the inductive input from the magnetic sensor using instructions stored in a second set of memory locations, and to optionally discontinue processing the acoustic input when a demodulator circuit operatively connected to the processor detects a predetermined signal indicative of the presence of a hearing loop system.

Abstract: A hearing device includes an enclosure comprising a shell and a faceplate and is configured for at least partial insertion within an ear of a user. An antenna structure of the hearing device is oriented such that a direction of an electric field (E-field) of a propagating electromagnetic signal generated by the antenna structure is directed non-tangentially with respect to the user at the location of the user's ear. The antenna structure includes an antenna disposed in or on the faceplate and a ground plane at least partially supported by the faceplate. A battery and electronic circuitry are disposed within the shell. The electronic circuitry is powered by the battery and is electrically coupled to send and/or receive signals via the antenna structure.

The hearing device includes a housing having an inner surface and an outer surface, electronic components disposed within the housing, and a port disposed in the housing and extending between a first end at the outer surface of the housing and a second end disposed within the housing, where the port is acoustically connected to at least one of a speaker or a microphone of the electronic components. The hearing components also include a controller that is electrically connected to a sensor and that is adapted to detect a change in capacitance of the sensor, where the change in capacitance is associated with debris at least partially occluding the port.
