Disclosed is an LCD apparatus including a receiving container for receiving a light guide plate and a lamp assembly, a first chassis for fixing the light guide plate and an LCD panel, and a second chassis for fixing the first chassis and the LCD panel. The receiving container and the first and second chassis are made of metal material so that the LCD apparatus may have reduced size and weight.

In a flat panel display device, the display device includes a display panel to display an image, a receiving receptacle and a guiding member. The receiving receptacle has a bottom surface and a first sidewall. The guiding member has a first coupling portion that is positioned higher than the first sidewall and a guiding portion that is positioned higher than the first coupling portion to guide the display panel disposed on the first sidewall. The first coupling portion of the guiding member is disposed between the display panel and the first sidewall of the receiving receptacle, and the guiding portion of the guiding member prevents movement of the display panel.

A flat panel display apparatus comprises a flat panel display module; a control PCB placed in one rear edge area of the flat panel display module and having a conductive grounding part; and a grounding contact member including a rear contact part contacting the grounding part of the control PCB, and a side contact part bent from the rear contact part and contacting one edge of the flat panel display module, and grounding the control PCB. With this configuration, the present invention provides a flat panel display apparatus in which a control PCB having the length shorter than the width of a flat panel display module is easily grounded and the production cost thereof is decreased.

A display apparatus with a light-weight power providing unit that can be easily incorporated within an acceptable fastening-error range is disclosed. The display apparatus includes a display panel that displays an image, a backlight assembly that provides the display panel with light, a rear cover that is coupled to the backlight assembly and has a guide unit formed thereon, wherein the guide unit protrudes from a bottom surface of the rear cover by a predetermined height, and a top-receiving container that has an inner space to receive the display panel and the backlight assembly and that is combined with the rear cover. There is also a power providing unit that provides the backlight assembly with driving power. The power providing unit is coupled to the rear cover at a position guided by the guide unit.

A light guiding plate capable of minimizing a thickness of a backlight assembly and an LCD device, a backlight assembly and an LCD device having the same are provided. The light guiding plate has a light incident surface, a light reflection surface having a plurality of dots for diffusing and reflecting the light emitted from the light incident surface and a light output surface having a predetermined roughness and further diffusing the light diffused and reflected by the light reflection surface. Thus, a conventional diffusion sheet disposed above the light guiding plate may be removed.

A backlight assembly for an LCD apparatus comprises a lamp emitting light; a light guide plate including a light-entering surface through which the light from the lamp enters, and a light-emitting surface through which the light is emitted; a lamp reflector having an opening toward the light-entering surface and combined to the light guide plate, accommodating and covering the lamp; and a light interceptive part interposed between the light-emitting surface and the lamp reflector, and preventing the light from the lamp from entering through an edge at which the light-entering surface and the light-emitting surface are intersected. With this configuration, the present invention provides a backlight assembly for an LCD apparatus, which is improved in preventing a bright-line occurring on a front area adjacent to a light-entering surface of a light guide plate and in enhancing the brightness.

The LCD device includes a backlight unit having a lamp for emitting a first light, a light guiding plate for guiding the first light, and a lamp reflector disposed adjacent to the lamp to partially cover the lamp and receiving the first light exited from the lamp, the lamp reflector having a plurality of protrusion portions for diffusing and reflecting the received first light to generate a second light; and a display unit for displaying images in response to the second light, the display unit having a lower substrate, an upper substrate opposite to the lower substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the lower and the upper substrates.

The backlight assembly includes a light source and a light guide plate. The light source includes a plurality of light generating parts that generate a first light. The light guide plate includes side surfaces, a light exiting surface and a light reflecting surface. The light exiting surface has a plurality of luminance-compensating patterns. The light reflecting surface faces the light exiting surface. The first light enters into the light guide plate via the light incident surface to form a second light. The second light is reflected on the light reflecting surface toward the light exiting surface to form a third light. The third light exits from the light guide plate via the light exiting surface. The luminance-compensating patterns uniformize a luminance of the third light. A thickness of the light guide plate decreases in a direction from the light incident surface to a center of the light guide plate.

An LCD module and LCD apparatus is provided capable of preventing a chassis from being damaged by an external impact and reducing a number of parts of an LCD apparatus having the LCD module and a number of assembling processes. The LCD apparatus comprises a clip disposed between a receiving container and a chassis by a screw. The screw is engaged to the receiving container passing through the chassis and clip. The clip may be provided to opposite and portions of the receiving container to reinforce the strength of the chassis.
