    Abstract: A small lightweight weapon system for integration into an unmanned aerial vehicle comprises a weapon operating group which utilizes blowback operation to fire a full-powered centerfire rifle ammunition. An operating rod of the weapon operating group has an axis of translation offset from the longitudinal axis of the barrel thereby creating a moment couple on the system. A motor assembly controls the operation of the weapon operating group. Through a gear train, actuation of the motor assembly lifts a sear against a return torsion spring, which holds the operating group back when not firing. The gear train comprises a one way flywheel disconnect to increase the torque of the direct current motor and overcome the force of the torsion spring. Intelligent motor commutation and burst control are achieved through an encoder and software package.

    Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to apparatuses, systems and methods for adjustably holding a device. For example, in one embodiment, an apparatus is provided that includes a male interlocking ring. The male interlocking ring includes a plurality of male interlocking members. The apparatus also includes a unitarily formed female interlocking plate. The unitarily formed female interlocking plate includes portions adapted to receive each of the plurality of male interlocking members.     Abstract: Methods and computer-readable mediums are provide that, in some embodiments maximize bending of an actuator and, in other embodiments, minimize bending of the actuator. For example, in one embodiment, a method is provided that acquires a first ratio of a modulus of inertia for a first component to a Young's Modulus for the first component. The method also acquires a second ratio of a modulus of inertia for a second component to a Young's Modulus for the second component. Thereafter, the method provides an actuator (which includes the first component and second component). The actuator has a cross-sectional shape such that the first ratio substantially equal to said second ratio. In various embodiments of the invention, the actuator is spun fibers formed into batting and used as insulation, or may form an active element of a thermostat.

    Abstract: A single-point munition arming interface provides a more efficient approach to arming a canister-based munition. The single-point munition arming interface interfaces with electrically-initiated canister-based munitions. The arming interface locks and arms munitions in a baseplate system before initiation. The single-point munition arming interface includes a feature for removing the first safety in the munitions safe and arm device which is actuated upon insertion of the munition into the interface. The second step in the procedure is a user action which simultaneously locks the munition to the interface and completes the arming sequence by using a single mechanism to achieve both essential motions. The arming interface can be mechanically or electrically actuated allowing for remote activation which increases operator safety.

    Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder with a load distribution nut connected to an end cap reduces fatigue experience by the end cap portion of the cylinder. The load distribution nut separates the axial load generated in the system from a single to multiple load paths. By introducing additional load paths, the load experienced by the traditional load path is reduced. Additionally, the load experienced by the end cap can be tailored by modifying the design of the load distribution nut and end cap. By either increasing or decreasing the surface area of the load distribution nut the axial load reduction on the end cap is correspondingly decreased or increased.
