Abstract: A ceramic body exhibiting % P≥50%, df≤0.36, and a combined weight percentage of crystalline phases containing cordierite and indialite of at least 85 wt %, and up to 10 wt % of a crystalline pseudobrookite structured phase, such as armalcolite. The ceramic body contains, as expressed on an oxide basis, either: 1% wt % to 11% wt % titania and 89% wt % to 99% wt % MgO, Al2O3, and SiO2 that have relative weight ratios of MgO:Al2O3:SiO2 within the field defined by 15.6:34.0:50.4, 12.6:34.0:53.4, 13.9:30.7:55.4, and 16.9:30.7:52.4, or 2.5% to 11% titania and 89% wt % to 97.5% wt % MgO, Al2O3, and SiO2 that have relative weight ratios of MgO:Al2O3:SiO2 within the field defined by 15.6:34.0:50.4, 12.6:34.0:53.4, 12.0:35.7:52.3, and 15.0:35.7:49.3. Batch composition mixtures and methods of manufacturing ceramic bodies using the batch compositions are provided, as are other aspects.

Abstract: Methods of making a sintered electrode comprise forming a slurry including 40 wt % to 75 wt % of a powder comprising a chalcogenide and at least one of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, 1 wt % to 10 wt % of a binder, and 30 wt % to 50 wt % of a solvent. Methods include casting the slurry into a green tape. Methods include drying the green tape to form a dried green tape by removing at least a portion of the solvent. The dried green tape includes at most 10 wt % of organic material in the dried green tape. Methods include sintering the dried green tape at a temperature from 500° C. to 1350° C. for no more than 60 minutes to form the sintered electrode.

Abstract: A process of forming a sintered article includes heating a green portion of a tape of polycrystalline ceramic and/or minerals in organic binder at a binder removal zone to a temperature sufficient to pyrolyze the binder; horizontally conveying the portion of tape with organic binder removed from the binder removal zone to a sintering zone; and sintering polycrystalline ceramic and/or minerals of the portion of tape at the sintering zone, wherein the tape simultaneously extends through the removal and sintering zones.

Abstract: A method for forming a treated sintered composition includes: providing a slurry precursor including a lithium-, sodium-, or magnesium-based compound; tape casting the slurry precursor to form a green tape; sintering the green tape at a temperature in a range of 500° C. to 1350° C. for a time in a range of less than 60 min to form a sintered composition; and heat treating the sintered composition at a temperature in a range of 700° C. to 1100° C. for a time in a range of 1 min to 2 hrs in an oxygen-containing atmosphere to form the treated sintered composition.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are green bodies comprising at least one ceramic-forming powder; at least one binder; and at least one cross-linked starch present in an amount of at least about 20% by weight as a super addition. Further disclosed herein is a method of making a porous ceramic body comprising mixing at least one ceramic-forming powder, at least one solvent such as water, at least one binder, and at least one cross-linked starch present in an amount of about 20% by weight as a super addition to form a batch composition; extruding the batch composition to form a green body; drying the green body; and firing the green body to form a porous ceramic body. Also disclosed herein are methods of screening a green body for making a porous ceramic body.
