Abstract:
A turbine blade with a generally hollow airfoil having an outer wall that defines at least one radially extending chamber for receiving the flow of a coolant, the airfoil including a leading edge that resides in an upstream or forward direction, a trailing edge that resides in a downstream or aft direction, a convex suction side, and a concave pressure side, the turbine blade comprising: a plurality of inserts disposed within the chamber that are configured to initially receive at least a portion of the coolant entering the chamber and direct a substantial portion of the coolant through a plurality of insert apertures toward the inner surface of the outer wall; wherein the inserts are configured to form at least one inward bleed channel and a central collector passage into which the inward bleed channel flows.
Abstract:
A first substrate may be joined to a second substrate using an adhesive body. The adhesive body is formed from an adhesive composition containing at least one epoxy resin, at least one heat-activatable curing agent, and at least one radiation-curable compound. A first surface of the adhesive body is exposed to an amount of radiation effective to cure at least a portion of the at least one radiation-curable compound present in proximity to such first surface, thereby rendering said first surface less tacky and/or more resistant to deformation. A second surface of the adhesive body is then applied to a surface of said first substrate. A surface of the second substrate is thereafter positioned proximate to or in contact with the first surface of the adhesive body and the adhesive body heated to a temperature effective to activate the heat-activated curing agent and induce curing of the at least one epoxy resin.

A belt roller for belt filter presses having a roller body and two end pieces. Each end piece has a thickened portion positioned adjacent a center of the end piece. The thickened portion can resemble a variety of shapes when viewed in cross-section.
Abstract:
A liquid filtering apparatus is placed in a vessel having a bed of filtration material and an intake for introducing unfiltered liquid, that includes a washbox, an airlifting tube extending from the washbox and including an intake end and means for introducing a primary gas to the airlifting tube, the airlifting tube passing through a central pipe, which extends from just below the washbox to a position just above the intake end. At least one screen cartridge is oriented in a generally angular downward direction in the bed and is in communication with an effluent chamber defined in part by the outer surface of the central pipe. A reject line extends from the washbox, and an effluent collector extends from the effluent chamber. A method of filtering and cleaning the filtration material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Method of filtering liquid using a vertical filter, which includes media, an airlift, a washbox, a reject box, a filtrate chamber, and an effluent box. The method of filtration and media cleaning is automatic. The filtered liquid is collected by multi-cartridge screens before entering a filtrate chamber. The filtrate flows from the filtrate chamber into an effluent weir box. The liquid level in the filter is controlled by an effluent weir in the effluent weir box. The reject line is below the water level in the filter, which provides the driving force for the reject flow. The reject rate is controlled by liquid level in the filter tank and a throttling valve on the reject discharge line. The washbox includes a filtration material shield, a filtration material/dirtied liquid separation zone, and a washbox skirt with a washbox isolator, which prevents the dirt in the washbox form entering the influent zone.
Abstract:
An apparatus for trimming the neck of a blow molded plastic bottle in which a reverse punch is mounted on an end of a shaft. A knife is also mounted to the shaft adjacent to the reverse punch and includes a cutting edge recessed from the cutting edge of the reverse punch. A stripper arm is mounted on the shaft and axially moves with the shaft. The stripper arm's distal end is adjacent to the reverse punch and recessed from the cutting edge of the reverse punch. An actuator causes the distal end of the stripper arm to move to a position located radially outward from the cutting surface when a trimmer ring from the neck of a bottle is to be removed from the apparatus.
Abstract:
A rigidified suspension is provided for a load-carrying vehicle, such as a trailer for a dual use, belly-dumping and end-dumping trailer, of the type having a frame with left and right side beams connected together and to which frame wheels are mounted through a suspension. The rigidified suspension includes left and right suspension rails, which are provided having a forward end and a rearward end and are horizontally disposed inward from and below the left and right side beams of the frame. A rear plate is fastened to said left and right side beams of the frame and extends downward therefrom adjacent to the rearward end of the left and right suspension rails. A connector brace is rigidly fastened to the rear ends of the left and right rails and to the rear plate and thereby between each other and the frame. A forward suspension brace is provided, rigidly fastening the forward ends of the left and right suspension rails to the frame and to each other. An intermediate suspension brace is provided, rigidly fastening the left and right suspension rails to the frame at a position intermediate of the forward ends and said rearward ends, so that a rigid suspension system is constructed by which a plurality of wheel axles and wheels can be connected to the frame through short vertical attachment arms.
Abstract:
A dual use belly-dumping and end-dumping vehicle includes a frame mounted on wheels for transport and a pivotable hopper carried in the frame. The hopper is provided with angled side walls and end walls defining a top opening and a bottom opening. A pair of hopper bay doors are pivotably connected through a pair of pivot arms to the end walls of the hopper. The hopper bay doors have an inwardly pivoted position at which the hopper bay doors cover the bottom opening and an outwardly pivoted position at which the hopper doors pivot in opposite directions from each other to uncover at least part of the bottom opening. Each door of the pair of bay doors pivots about separated pivot points on the end walls, which pivot points are spaced apart from a center line of the hopper a predetermined distance which is less than one-half of the distance between the center line and each respective side wall. Each bay door has an interior surface with a radius of curvature approximately equal to the distance from the bottom opening to the pivot points, so that an imaginary vertical line from the pivot points to the hopper doors intersects the interior door surface at a point which is closer to the center line than it is to the side walls at the bottom hopper opening, thereby causing a greater proportion of the weight of granular material in the hopper to act to pivot each door inwardly to a closed position. A hydraulic actuating cylinder is attached between the actuator arms and is operatively connected to a controllable hydraulic pressure supply to selectably move the hopper bay doors between the inward closed position and the outward open position.
