Abstract:
Devices for cleaning vessels, especially swimming pools, are discussed. The devices may include repositionable in-line valves, with the valves typically moving laterally (from side to side) and changing the initial direction of the main fluid-flow path through the valves and corresponding cleaner bodies. Asymmetric feet may be utilized as part of the devices, whose bottom bearing surfaces may include elongated strips of material placed parallel to the normally-forward direction of travel of the devices. Discs of non-uniform flexibility also may be employed, and blocking tabs or gripping material may be used to inhibit undesired backward movement of a cleaner when its operation commences.
Abstract:
Printers and methods for operating a printer are provided. One method comprises receiving a print order associated with image data for use in printing a plurality images; converting the image data into actions to print the plurality of images on a receiver medium with print adjacent areas between the printed images, the converting being performed in accordance with printer settings; printing a first set of color patches in the print adjacent areas when the each of the first set of calibration color patches can be printed in the print adjacent areas; printing a second set of color patches in the print adjacent areas when each of the first set of color patches cannot be printed in the print adjacent areas; and sensing the color of each printed color patch and recalibrating the printer settings based upon the sensed colors.
Abstract:
A system and method for organizing media based on associated metadata is provided. One or more items of media are accessed. Metadata associated with the one or more items of media is identified. A grouping for the one or more items of media according to the metadata is determined. The one or more items of media are organized according to the grouping.
Abstract:
A method of implanting a prosthesis in a patient at a treatment site includes providing a prosthesis delivery system with an inner sheath and an outer sheath. The prosthesis is loaded inside the inner sheath. The inner sheath containing the prosthesis is loaded within the outer sheath. The outer sheath is advanced in a patient towards the treatment site up to a given position at a distance from the treatment site. While retaining the outer sheath in the given position, the inner sheath is advanced out from the outer sheath to the treatment site to align the prosthesis with the treatment site and the inner sheath is retracted to at least partially implant the prosthesis at the treatment site. Upon completion of prosthesis implantation, both of the inner and outer sheaths are retracted from the patient.
Abstract:
A push side pool cleaner (1) has a spheroidal overall shape, within this shape two outer segments (9, 10) serve as wheels and a central zone (88) carries a suction passage (33) and a debris collector (32) also located entirely within the overall shape. The wheels are driven directly by water jets (44, 45) without any gears or other transmission. A flow splitter is provided in the cleaner (1) to divide push side water flow between the jets (44, 45) which drive the wheels and jets (43) which provide impulsion to the suction passage (33).
Abstract:
A carousel organizer is provided that includes a housing mounted into an upper recess of a closet. The housing provides a track for a belt mounted inside the housing, the belt being driven by a motor. Items are stored on hooks that attach to the belt. In this way items are stored in an orderly manner and made easily accessible by activating the motor to bring the items along the track and present them to a user.
Abstract:
A firefighting vehicle includes a frame, a fluid pump, and a body having a compartment. In one embodiment, a drive line of the pump passes through a transverse cross member of the frame. In another embodiment, the body includes opposite side sections sandwiching the pump therebetween. In another embodiment, the vehicle includes a pumphouse module in which the body is mounted so as to move in unison with the body relative to the frame. In another embodiment, the vehicle includes a control panel operably coupled to the pump and extending through an opening in the compartment. In another embodiment, the compartment includes a wall having a C-shaped bulkhead.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for marine asset security and tracking (MAST). A method includes transmitting identification data, location data and environmental state sensor data from a radio frequency tag. An apparatus includes a radio frequency tag that transmits identification data, location data and environmental state sensor data. Another method includes transmitting identification data and location data from a radio frequency tag using hybrid spread-spectrum modulation. Another apparatus includes a radio frequency tag that transmits both identification data and location data using hybrid spread-spectrum modulation.
Abstract:
We describe a transgenic non-human animal comprising a heterologous nucleic acid binding polypeptide which binds to a target gene and modulates its expression, in which the heterologous nucleic acid binding polypeptide is encoded by a transgene, and in which the expression of a target gene in at least one cell is modulated compared to a non-transgenic animal.
Abstract:
A method of treating NOx emmissions in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine having catalyst means including at least a first catalyst converter capable of treating NOx, the method including operating the engine in a first mode to promote a first set of conditions and in a second mode to promote a second set of conditions, wherein the first mode of operation includes operating the engine with a lean air-fuel ratio, and the second mode of operation includes operating the engine with a stoichiometic air-fuel ratio.
