Abstract:
Continuous strip casting device comprises a pair of parallel casting rolls onto which molten metal is supplied by metal supply means. Casting rolls are enclosed by a casting chamber into which hot strip is delivered downwardly from the casting rolls. Strip passes downwardly into a cooling chamber where it can either fall into a moveable scrap box at the bottom of chamber or be guided by operation of moveable apron through an exit door from chamber into a heat exchange chamber provided with heaters. A pair of seal rolls are moveable in a seal chamber to form a seal between chambers and are provided with respective gas inlets to admit oxidation inhibiting gas into those chambers. Scrap box is moveable into and out of the bottom of chamber via a scrap box exchange chamber fitted with an airtight door.
Abstract:
An apparatus for preheating and charging scrap material includes a throat section (38) having at one end thereof a material charging inlet (37) connected to a furnace shell (2), the throat section extending laterally and upwardly obliquely, a heat exchanger section (39) connected to the other end of the throat section (38) and extending upwardly, a sealing section (42) above the heat exchanger section (39), a material supply (43) for supplying the scrap material into the sealing section (42), an exhaust duct (53) formed at the heat exchanger section (39) just below the sealing section (42) and connected to an exhaust system (58) and a material delivery device (46) disposed at the other end of the throat section (38) for delivering the scrap material (13) from the heat exchanger section (39) to the material charging inlet (37). The scrap material (13) is substantially continuously charged into the furnace shell (2) while preheated by the high-temperature exhaust gases from the furnace shell (2).
Abstract:
A personal computer such as one of the IBM 5550 range (represented by the IBM 5530, 5540 and 5560) cannot be connected to a label printer because the two machines have completely different control commands. If a converter is placed between a personal computer of the said type and the label printer, the converter can convert or arrange the data, loop-back anh meaningless or unsuitable signals passing between the two devices, and discard any unnecessary control commands, thus permitting personal computers of the above type, which are increasingly popular, to be connected to a label printer and used effectively, and further permitting the online printing of tags and labels via a connection to a host computer.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for continuously manufacturing non-fired pellets, which comprise: continuously supplying green pellets containing a carbonating binder into a vertical type reactor to continuously pass the green pellets sequentially through a predrying zone, a carbonating zone and a drying zone in the vertical type reactor; blowing a predrying gas having a relative humidity of up to 70% and a temperature of from 40.degree. to 250.degree. C. into the predrying zone to predry the green pellets therein until the water content of the green pellets in the predyring zone falls within the range of from 1 to 7 wt. %; blowing a carbonating gas comprising carbon dioxide gas of from 5 to 95 vol. % and saturated steam of from 5 to 95 vol. % and having a temperature of from 30.degree. to 98.degree. C. into the carbonating zone to carbonate the carbonating binder contained in the green pellets therein; and blowing a drying gas at a temperature of from 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. into the drying zone to harden the green pellets therein, thereby continuously manufacturing non-fired pellets.
Abstract:
A rear suspension system for motor vehicles. Both leg ends of a gate-shaped swing arm which at its free end supports the central part of a rear axle are pivotably secured to a vehicle body frame, a tension rod is provided between the lower end of a downwardly extending swing link mounted near the free end of the swing arm and a portion of the vehicle body frame near and below the above pivoted point of the swing arm, and one end of a damper disposed between both legs of the swing arm in a position above the tension rod is mounted near and above the pivoted point of the swing arm, while the other end thereof is attached to the swing link. The rear suspension system can be mounted in a relatively narrow space, and even with devices of relatively large capacities mounted thereabout, it can exhibit its damping characteristics satisfactorily.
Abstract:
A digital coherent optical receiver includes a processor that is operative to separate electric signals obtained by converting an optical signal into a horizontal signal component and a vertical signal component; to generate a histogram of the horizontal signal component and the vertical signal component as outputs of the equalizing filter; and to determine a presence/absence of local convergence based on distribution of the histogram of the horizontal signal component and the histogram of the vertical signal component.
Abstract:
An illumination tool has an LED light source; and a light reflecting part which is provided at a front of the LED light source. The light reflecting part is given a slant so as to approach the LED light source toward a center.
Abstract:
A pump probe measuring device (1) comprises: an ultrashort optical pulse laser generator (2) for generating a first ultrashort optical pulse train which is a pump light (3a), second and third ultrashort optical pulse trains (3b), (3c) which are probe lights; an optical shutter unit (6) to which the second and the third ultrashort pulse trains (3b), (3c) are introduced; and a detecting unit (20) including an irradiation optical system (8) for directing the pump light (3a), the first probe light (3b) and the second probe light (3c) to a sample (7), a sensor (11) for detecting a probe signal from the sample (7), and a phase-sensitive detecting means (12) connected to the sensor (11). An optical shutter control unit (10) periodically modulates the delay time of the first probe light (3b) and that of the second probe light (3c) with respect to the pump light (3a), and the modulated first and second probe lights (3a), (3b) illuminate the sample (7) alternately to detect the probe signals from the sample (7) by the phase-sensitive detecting means (12) in synchronization with the periodic modulation signal of the delay time.
Abstract:
An optical transmission apparatus including a transmitting OTL processor to rearrange a data string stored in a frame into a plurality of logical lanes, and set a lane ID used to identify in which logical lane a beginning of the data string is arranged among the plurality of logical lanes in a non-scramble area in an overhead of the frame, and a receiving OTL processor to respectively identify the lane IDs included in the data string in the respective physical lanes rearranged, determine a generation state of a bit inversion and a lane replacement for each physical lane, compensate the bit inversion and the lane replacement so that the data string in the respective physical lanes becomes same state as the data string in the respective logical lanes, based on the identified result, and rearrange the compensated data string in the respective logical lanes so as to regenerate the frame.
