    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may activate an independent synchronization source mode based on one or more conditions associated with the first device. The independent synchronization source mode may correspond to the first device operating as reference for synchronization. The first device may transmit one or more synchronization signals indicating a device type of the first device and indicating that the first device is operating as the reference for synchronization. For example, the first device may select one or more bits or an identifier corresponding to the device type to include in the one or more synchronization signals. A second device receiving the one or more synchronization signals may select the first device as a reference for synchronization based on the device type. The second device may synchronize with the first device using the synchronization signal.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide techniques for applying redundancy mitigation rules when transmitting sensor data sharing messages. A method, performed by a sidelink user equipment (UE), includes observing, via one or more sensors, a set of objects in an environment in which the sidelink UE is operating, applying one or more redundancy mitigation rules to the set of objects, determining, from the set of objects, a number of objects to be shared with one or more other sidelink UEs after the one or more redundancy mitigation rules have been applied to the set of objects, determining, based on the determined number of objects to be shared, whether to transmit a sensor data sharing message (SDSM) to the one or more other sidelink UEs indicating the objects to be shared from the set of objects, and taking one or more actions based on the determination of whether to transmit the SDSM.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration for selecting a resource for a transmission of a self-contained inter-UE coordination message, wherein the configuration indicates an initial time interval, a step size for incrementing the initial time interval, and an available resource ratio associated with a resource selection window, and wherein the initial time interval is incremented by the step size until a quantity of available resources within the resource selection window satisfies the available resource ratio. The UE may select, based at least in part on the configuration, the resource for the transmission of the self-contained inter-UE coordination message from the quantity of available resources within the resource selection window. The UE may transmit the self-contained inter-UE coordination message via the selected resource. Numerous other aspects are described.
