Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic device configured to transmit an advertising signal using a first communication circuit, establish a connection with each of a plurality of external electronic devices based on one or more response signals for the advertising signal using the first communication circuit, receive an identifier from each of the plurality of external electronic devices, identify at least two external electronic devices corresponding to the same group or the same identifier among the plurality of external electronic devices based on the received identifier, determine a ranging device among the at least two external electronic devices based on communication quality related to the plurality of external electronic devices, and perform UWB ranging with the determined ranging device.

Abstract: A method and an electronic device for ranging are provided. An ultra-wideband (UWB) signal is received from an external device through a first antenna. A communication state between the external device and the electronic device is identified using information about communication quality included in the UWB signal. A signal received through a second antenna is identified by decoding the received signal based on the identified communication state. A distance between the electronic device and the external device is determined based on whether the received signal is a low frequency (LF) signal.

Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an ultra-wideband (UWB) communication circuit, a processor operatively connected to the UWB communication circuit, and a memory operatively connected to the processor. The memory stores instructions, and when the instructions are executed, the instructions, when executed, further cause the processor to establish a wireless communication channel with an external electronic device using the UWB communication circuit, perform positioning communication with the external electronic device based on a predetermined period, via the wireless communication channel, recognize a distance between the electronic device and the external electronic device, and a changing trend of the distance, based at least on the positioning communication, and change the positioning communication period based on the recognized distance and the changing trend.
