    Abstract: An image generation apparatus generates an image whose background region on which a virtual object appearing in the real space is not superimposed is drawn in a background color having a predetermined luminance so as to make a region of a shadow of the virtual object look relatively dark. A rendering section renders the shadow of the virtual object appearing in a mesh structure in the real space by rendering not only the virtual object but also the mesh structure in the real space. A pixel value conversion section heightens colors of all pixels such that the background region uniformly takes on a background color having a predetermined luminance. A shadow/background processing section identifies the region of the shadow of the virtual object, sets the background region other than the shadow to the background color, and sets the shadow region to a color whose luminance is equal to or lower than that of the background color.

    Abstract: A skeleton model updating apparatus, a skeleton model updating method, and a program by which time and effort for changing the pose of a skeleton model to a known standard pose can be reduced. A target node identifying section identifies target nodes from among a plurality of nodes included in a skeleton model that is in a pose other than a standard pose. A reference node identifying section identifies a reference node that is positioned closest to the side of the target nodes, from among nodes that are connected to all of the target nodes via one or more bones. A position deciding section decides positions of the target nodes such that relative positions of the target nodes with respect to the position of the reference node are adjusted to predetermined positions.

    Abstract: A posture data acquisition section acquires posture data indicating a posture of a target node included in a skeleton model of a tree structure. An initial position determination section determines a position to which the target node is to move on the basis of the position data. The initial position determination section determines an initial position of a parent node of the target node in Forward and Backward Reaching Inverse Kinematics (FABRIK) computing on the basis of the position to which the target node is to move and a given posture of the skeleton model. A posture update section updates a posture of the skeleton model by executing the FABRIK computing including determination of a new position of the parent node on the basis of the position to which the target node is to move and the initial position of the parent node.

The information processing apparatus accepts the first information and the second information from the first and second information acquisition apparatuses, respectively, retains the accepted first and second information in an associated relationship with information of timings at which the first and second information acquisition apparatuses acquire the first and second information, respectively, and extracts pieces of the first and second information acquired at a common timing from the retained first and second information as pair information.
