Abstract: Techniques and arrangements for integrating predefined templates with open ticket functionality. For instance, a merchant device can identify a type of transaction between a merchant and a customer, select a ticket type for the transaction based on the type of transaction, and select a transaction flow based on the ticket type. The merchant device can then generate an open ticket for the transaction based on the ticket type, and associated transaction flow with the open ticket. Additionally, the merchant device can generate a visual representation of data associated with the open ticket, where a layout of the data within the visual representation is based on the type of transaction and the transaction flow, and present the visual representation to the merchant. In some examples, the type of transaction is identified using received input. In some examples, the type of transaction is identified based on a group associated with the customer.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for enabling more efficient tipping by providing a merchant the ability to reduce the time used on manually entering tip amounts. In one embodiment, a method includes automatically generating, by a point-of-sale (POS) system, a transaction receipt that indicates a plurality of selectable tip options, wherein said automatically generating the transaction receipt is based on one or more rules specified by a user of the POS system. The method further includes causing the transaction receipt to be printed as a printed receipt. The method further includes identifying, by the POS system, a one of the plurality of selectable tip options specified by a customer on the printed receipt. Among other benefits, the disclosed techniques reduce the time and effort the merchant needs to spend on collating the tipping at end of the business day.

Abstract: Techniques for processing a transaction using one or more service computing devices of a payment service that processes transactions for multiple merchants including a merchant are described. A first point-of-sale device operable by the merchant is configured to (i) receive, from a first point-of-sale (POS) device operable by the merchant, transaction data indicating an amount to charge a customer for at least one item ordered by the customer from the merchant in a transaction, and (ii) send the transaction data to a second POS device operable by the merchant, and the second POS device is configured to (i) receive the transaction data, (ii) generate payment data via a card reader associated with the second POS device, and (iii) transmit the payment data to a payment gateway for processing payment for the transaction.

Abstract: Various embodiments are related to apparatuses and methods for enabling a merchant to perform banking-type transactions for a customer. A merchant can use, for example, a sales system configured to be used by the merchant to sell goods to perform a banking-type transaction for a customer. The sales system can send information related to the banking-type transaction to, for example, a buyer/seller platform. When the banking-type transaction is a deposit, the merchant can receive funds for the deposit from the customer. The platform can credit the customer's financial account for the deposit amount by diverting payment card funds, received by the merchant for the sale of goods and processed by the platform, to the customer's financial account. When the banking-type transaction is a withdrawal, the platform can debit the customer's financial account and credit the debited funds to the merchant's financial account.

Abstract: Techniques and arrangements for facilitating synchronization of open ticket functionality utilized by point-of-sale (POS) devices with kitchen display systems. In some example, a POS device receives customer orders associated with a transaction between a merchant and a customer. Based on individual customer orders, the POS device adds information associated with the individual customer orders to an open ticket, and then sends data associated with the open ticket to a kitchen display system. The kitchen display system can receive the data associated with the open ticket, create an order ticket for the individual customer orders using the data, and then provide order tickets using a user interface. In some examples, the kitchen display system then synchronizes with a counter device to provide and update order tickets.

Abstract: A payment handling system may operate to handle payments for the cost of a transaction in which one or more devices operate in an offline mode. The payment handling system may allow for merchant devices to make modifications to local versions of an open ticket while in an off-line mode. When a merchant device subsequently enters an online mode, the systems and techniques may operate to reconcile differences between the local versions of the open ticket.
