Abstract: A mobile device system and a communication device which can flexibly respond to the living environment to prevent misplacement are provided. In each mobile device, outside a specified area which is registered in advance, when a combination of other mobile devices detected as being located within a predetermined range of that device does not match a combination of other mobile devices registered in a group registration unit, misplacement of a mobile device is announced by operating an announcing unit. Inside the specified area on the other hand, even if the combination of other mobile devices detected as being located within the predetermined range of that device does not match the combination of other mobile devices registered in the group registration unit, the announcing unit is not operated.

Abstract: A plurality of mobile devices interoperate without configuration operation. A mobile device system including a plurality of mobile devices is provided. Each mobile device is operable in one of an independent-operation mode in which the mobile device operates with priority over the other mobile devices and a dependent mode in which the mobile device operates dependently on another mobile device and includes a control unit having a start-up-order detection unit configured to detect the start-up order of the mobile device with respect to the other mobile devices. A first mobile device operates in the independent-operation mode when the start-up order of the first mobile device detected by the start-up-order detection unit is earlier than the start-up order of a second mobile device and operates in the dependent-operation mode when the start-up order is later than the start-up order of the second mobile device.

Abstract: An ion conducting actuator includes a substrate which is made of a polymer material, and facing electrodes for generating an electric field. In the ion conducting actuator, a shape of the substrate is deformed to a desired shape by distributing unevenly ions and/or polar molecules in the substrate by applying a voltage between the facing electrodes. A deformation state is formed by a shape-maintained time t2 for which the shape of the substrate is maintained substantially, and a deformation-start time t1 which is before the shape-maintained time t2, and during which, the shape of the substrate is deformed from an arbitrary shape to a desired shape. A drive voltage V applied to the ion conducting actuator differs during the shape-maintained time t2, and during the deformation-start time t1.

Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an yttria (Y2O3) sintered body having high density and excellent plasma-resistance. The yttria sintered body has a structure in which a Y2O3 crystal and a Y3BO6 crystal are included as the constituent crystal thereof. In order to produce the yttria sintered body, a boron oxide (B2O3) of 0.02 wt % to 10 wt % is added to an yttria (Y2O3) powder, the mixed powder is formed, and thereafter sintered at 1300-1600° C.

Abstract: A focal-length adjusting unit for photographing apparatuses includes a distance-measuring means for detecting the amount of defocus to an object by using a light beam of the object passing through a photographing optical system; at least two optical elements located in an optical path for distance measurement, deflecting incident light from the object to introduce the light into an image sensor or a distance-measuring sensor; a variable optical-property element constituting at least one of the optical elements, capable of changing the deflection of light in accordance with an applied voltage or an applied current; and a voltage applying means or a current applying means for applying a voltage or a current in accordance with the distance-measuring output of the distance-measuring means. In this case, before a distance measurement is made by the distance-measuring means, the function of light deflection of the variable optical-property element is set to a predetermined value.
