Abstract:
A radially compressive rope assembly is provided for enabling controlled descent from altitude. The radially compressive rope assembly is comprised of a load-bearing rope core surrounded by a flexible, compressible mantle, capable of recovery after deformation thereof. The flexible, compressible mantle is covered by a flexible sheath, disposed adjacent the outer perimeter of the mantle, which allows a user to slide easily against the sheath down the radially compressive rope assembly while compressing the mantle material through the sheath during descent, resulting in increasing or descreasing the speed of descent.

Abstract:
A rope (1) according to the invention comprises a main rope segment (4), a branching position (5) and an end connector segment (6), wherein the end connector segment comprises a first rope-branch (11) and a second rope-branch (12). The first rope-branch (11) comprises a noosed first rope-branch portion (21N) for making a noosed connection with a thickened rope portion, or a thickened first rope-branch portion for making a noosed connection with a noosed rope portion. The second rope-branch (12) comprises a noosed second rope-branch portion for making a noosed connection with a thickened rope portion, or a thickened second rope-branch portion (22T) for making a noosed connection with a noosed rope portion. The rope according to the invention allows for many various favourable manners of connecting the rope to other ropes and/or to other types of external objects.
Abstract:
A braiding apparatus includes a base, a strand supplier supplying a core strand, strand carriers shuttling on the base and providing carrier strands that wrap the core strand and twist together to form a rope, a guiding pulley disposed above the strand carriers to feed the rope to a strand collector, and a control device having a driving source connected to the guiding pulley, at least one recognition unit arranged on the guiding pulley, a sensor disposed relative to the guiding pulley, and a controller electrically connected to the sensor and the driving source. The sensor counts the number of the recognition unit passing the sensor when the guiding pulley rotates to measure lengths of divided sections of the rope. Concurrently, the controller controls the driving source and the guiding pulley to have different rotational speeds, thereby controlling different braid densities of different sections of the same rope precisely.
Abstract:
A tension absorber produced from a flexible strand which is only loadable under tension and which tension absorber possesses the advantages of a chain formed from strand material but can be easily and cost-effectively produced. The strand is folded into three or more loop sections. Proceeding from the beginning of the strand a succeeding loop section arranged offset in the direction of the end of the strand follows each preceding loop section arranged offset in the direction of the beginning, until the last loop section has been reached. Each loop section has a loop which encloses a loop opening. At least one bow is formed from the strand by guiding a succeeding loop section by its loop through the loop opening of a preceding loop section arranged adjacent to it.
Abstract:
A rope structure has a plurality of link structures each defining first and second ends and at least one organizer member. Each first end comprises at least first and second bend portions, and each second end comprises at least third and fourth bend portions. The first end of a first one of the plurality of link structures and the second end of a second one of the plurality of link structures engages the at least one organizer member such that the first and second bend portions of the first end of the first one of the plurality of link structures are substantially parallel to each other and substantially perpendicular to the third and fourth bend portions of the second end of the second one of the plurality of link structures.
Abstract:
A fixation device formed from a single length of filament includes a locking splice forming a first loop disposed at a first end of the fixation device. The device also includes an intermediate segment fixed to and extending away from the locking splice. Further included in the device is a tortuous segment fixed to and extending away from the locking splice. The tortuous segment is slidably engaged to the intermediate segment at a plurality of spaced apart locations along the length of the tortuous segment.

Abstract:
A linkable loop rope system that includes at least two loop rope assemblies fastened together by a coupling mechanism operable to releaseably couple the rope assemblies for use in securing large and/or irregular shaped objects on a transport vehicle or a tarp or cover on such objects during transport.
Abstract:
A rope (3) is described for a tropospheric aeolian generator (1) composed, in length, of at least one first sector (4) adapted to resist to repeated flexure cycles, having a safety coefficient (S1), a diameter D(b1) and an aerodynamic resistance coefficient (CD1); at least one second sector (5) adapted to resist to repeated traction cycles with great load, having a safety coefficient S2
