Abstract: Control systems and methods for increasing efficiency of a compressor while the compressor capacity exceeds compressor load, by using a mechanical unloader such as a slide valve to reduce the internal volume ratio of the compressor and allow a more efficient speed to be maintained by a variable frequency drive (VFD) while reducing the compressor capacity based on the load. Control systems include the VFD, a controller for the VFD and the mechanical unloader, and temperature sensors. Compressor embodiments further include one or more compressors and mechanical unloaders operated by the control systems.

Abstract: A diagnostic system for a compressor is provided. The compressor includes a compression mechanism and a motor. The diagnostic system includes processing circuitry and memory and may be operable to differentiate between a low-side fault and a high-side fault by monitoring a rate of current rise drawn by the motor for a first predetermined time period following compressor startup. The diagnostic system may be operable to predict a severity level of a compressor condition based on a fault history stored in the memory.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the water supply of a water-injected compressor, into the cooling water circuit of which is injected demineralized and non-demineralized water as fresh water. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the fresh water supplied is a mixture of demineralized and non-demineralized water, and the proportions of the demineralized and non-demineralized water in the fresh water are dependent on the conductivity of the demineralized and non-demineralized water. The invention also relates to a water-injected gas compressor that may be operated with such a method.

Abstract: A rotary compressor, comprising: a housing, comprising a lubricant oil storage part for containing lubricating oil; a compression mechanism disposed in the housing; a driving mechanism driving the compression mechanism, the driving mechanism comprising a rotation shaft, through-holes extending along the axial direction of the rotating shaft are disposed inside the rotating shaft, and the rotation shaft is in fluid connection with the lubricating oil storage part via the through-holes; and an oil level sensor in fluid connection with the through-holes inside the rotation shaft via a pressurized collection channel. Also disclosed is a rotation mechanism, comprising an oil level sensor in fluid connection with the through-holes inside the rotation shaft via the pressurized collection channel. Accurate and reliable detection of the lubricating oil in a compressor can be done using the pressurized collection channel and the oil level sensor, thus greatly saving cost and improving compressor reliability.

Abstract: A drive includes an inverter power circuit that applies power to an electric motor of a compressor from a direct current (DC) voltage bus. A power factor correction (PFC) circuit outputs power to the DC voltage bus based on input alternating current (AC) power. The PFC circuit includes: (i) a switch having a first terminal, a second terminal, and a control terminal; (ii) a driver that switches the switch between open and closed states based on a control signal; (iii) an inductor that charges and discharges based on switching of the switch; and (iv) a circuit that outputs a signal indicating whether the switch is in the open state or the closed state based on a voltage across the first and second terminals of the switch.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for protecting a rotary positive displacement pump, e.g., using a signal processor that receives signaling containing information about power, torque, speed, viscosity and specific gravity related to the operation of a pump; and determines whether to enter an enhanced pump protection mode for the rotary positive displacement pump based at least partly on a relationship between an actual corrected tune ratio and a tuned ratio set point (Tune Ratio SP). The signal processor may determine if the actual corrected tune ratio is less than or equal to the actual corrected tune ratio set point (Tune Ratio SP), and if so, then to enter the enhanced pump protection mode, else continues to use a basic pump protection mode, and also determines the actual corrected tune ratio based upon a ratio of an actual corrected power (PAcorr) divided by a tuned corrected power (PTcorr) at a specific operating speed.
