    Abstract: An example device includes a rigid plate, an inner element, a plurality of connecting flexural elements coupled between the inner element and rigid plate, and a hardstop that extends through the inner element and couples to the rigid plate. The inner element has a plurality of reflective surface areas that are configured to reflect light to a sensor. The plurality of connecting flexural elements allow the inner element to move relative to rigid plate. The hardstop contacts the inner element when a load applied on the device exceeds a threshold load.

A first stopper is arranged inside each of the openings and includes a first outer circumferential surface including a first outer diameter less than a diameter of the opening.     Abstract: The present disclosure relates to force sensors and force sensor substrates for use with surgical devices. A force sensor includes a substrate, a plurality of sensing elements, a distal plate, and a pin block assembly. The substrate includes a proximal portion and a distal portion including a proximally-facing surface in fluid communication with a distal surface via an opening extending therebetween. The plurality of sensing elements are mounted on a sensing area of the distal surface of the substrate. The distal plate is welded to the distal surface of the substrate, hermetically sealing the plurality of sensing elements between the distal plate and the distal surface of the substrate. The pin block assembly is welded to the proximally-facing surface of the distal portion of the substrate, hermetically sealing distal ends of a plurality of conductive pins between the pin block assembly and the substrate.

    Abstract: Tension monitoring is described using a sensor which may exhibit an offset for which compensation may be provided to produce a zero voltage amplified output or to increase dynamic range. An arrangement determines whether a power reset is responsive to a battery bounce such that an initially-measured system start-up parameter can be retained. The start-up parameter is automatically saved at start-up if the power reset is responsive to a start-up from a shut-down condition. The start-up parameter may be a zero tension amplified output responsive to the sensor offset at zero tension. Protection of a tension data set is provided such that no opportunity for altering the data set is presented prior to transfer of the data set. A housing configuration forms part of an electrical power circuit for providing electrical power to an electronics package from a battery.

The disclosed techniques pertain to aerial vehicles such as airplanes or model airplanes, gliders or model gliders, sailplanes or model sailplanes, hang-gliders, paragliders, speedflying, parafoils etc. The invention uses sensors located on the aerial vehicle to gauge air lift (updraft, thermal, ridge lift etc.) to extend the time the aerial vehicle may be kept aloft. The data flowing from the sensors is fed into a computer, that may provide recommendations to the pilot or to the autopilot (Computer) of the best path to take, to find better lift and to stay aloft.
