Abstract:
In a system for transmitting an electrical power supply by means of an over-head power transmission line supported by power transmission towers, a fault such as a short-circuit fault and a ground fault is detected by providing optical current sensors having opto-magnetic elements and opto-electric field elements on respective conductors of the transmission line to detect a fault current and fault voltage on the basis of the Faraday's effect and Pockel's effect. Light beams passing through the elements are modulated by the magnetic fields induced by the currents passing through the conductors and the voltages on the conductors, and thus include information about the current and voltage. There is further provided a circuit for calculating a distance to a fault point in accordance with the detected current, voltage and a phase difference therebetween and a known impedance of the power transmission line. The thus calculated distance to the fault point is displayed on display means which is arranged at the power transmission tower or the substation.

Abstract:
A method of drilling a well by utilizing AE/MA measurement which has the steps of monitoring an AE wave emitted at the periphery of the well, and drilling the well without lost circulation by providing lost circulation preventing means in the well if the energy of the AE wave emitted at the periphery of the well increases. Thus, the method can confirm a lost circulation layer, i.e., the size, the place and the direction of the underground crack to further determine whether further drilling is necessary or not.

Abstract:
An energy amount required for charging from the remaining capacity management value to the vicinity of a charge end and an energy amount required for discharging from the remaining capacity management value to the vicinity of a discharge end are calculated. A charge/discharge energy amount available for the secondary battery is predicted. A time required to complete the correction in the vicinity of the charge end and a time required to complete the correction in the vicinity of the discharge end are predicted based on the calculated energy amount and the predicted energy amount. A correction method having the shorter predicted time of the predicted times is selected. A state of charge of the secondary battery is controlled in such a manner that the remaining capacity management value of the secondary battery is corrected by the selected correction method.
Abstract:
A first upper limit and a second upper limit of emission power are set in each of the NaS batteries. The second upper limit is maximum value of the emission power for maintaining the temperature of the NaS battery at an upper limit temperature or less. In allocation of the emission power to each of the NaS batteries, each of the NaS batteries is separated into a preferential virtual battery to which a non-excess of the emission power that does not exceed the second upper limit is allocated and non-preferential virtual battery to which an excess of the emission power that exceeds the second upper limit is allocated, and after the emission power is allocated to all the preferential virtual batteries, the emission power is allocated to each of the non-preferential virtual batteries.

Abstract:
This invention provides a socket for a circuit board that adds function of electrical resistive element to a contact. A socket includes a socket body extending at a longitudinal direction; and a plurality of contacts disposed in two lines along the longitudinal direction of the socket body. When a memory module is connected to the socket body, terminals formed on opposite surfaces of the memory module are electrically and elastically connected by the contacts. The contact includes a contact portion which contacts the terminal, a bent portion for generating an elastic force, and a base portion. The contact is made of a conductive metal having elastic properties, and the contact used for carrying signal is provided with a resistor of an electrical resistive material that is different from the conductive metal. The resistor is connected in a current path between the base portion and the terminal of the memory module.
