Abstract:
The present invention relates to a blind rivet and blind rivet removal system and related method. Once set the blind rivet is not normally removed. However, increasingly removal is required due to the need to recycle automobiles. In order to remove blind rivets it has been necessary to remove the rivet flange by a variety of methods. Generally these methods were ineffective due to the resistance afforded by the mandrel and the risk of damage to the application or workpiece. Removing this unwanted swarf and debris often proved difficult. The invention provides a rivet with a stepped flange and a rivet removal tool with clips adapted to fit between the flange and surface of a workpiece so that upon relative displacement of the clips a rivet is extracted in a substantially axial direction as a single item. The invention also includes a tool and related method of blind rivet removal.
Abstract:
A binder mechanism includes a rotatable support having ring segments that can be locked in a closed configuration. The binder mechanism includes a horizontal and/or a flush mounted push button that opens and/or unlocks the rotatable support. The push button acts on a ramped slider that causes the rotatable support to rotate open. An over-center arrangement aids in maintaining the binder mechanism closed or opened.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to thickened fabric conditioners, which fabric conditioners contain a particular polymeric thickener, which is obtained by polymerizing from 5 to 100 mole percent of a cationic vinyl addition monomer, from 0 to 95 mole percent of acrylamide, and from 70 to 300 ppm of a difunctional vinyl addition monomer cross-linking agent. As compared to such compositions comprising a similar product but obtained from a polymerization reaction using between 5 and 45 ppm cross-linking agent considerable advantages are obtained. Especially, the delivery of fragrance present in the softening composition is more efficiently carried over to the fabrics to be treated.
Abstract:
Devices and systems for transporting a material suspended in a fluid, e.g., pulverized coal, that can be assembled about a rotary element are disclosed. The devices and systems comprise a first portion or half of a fan wheel assembly, a second portion or half of a fan wheel assembly, and a plurality of splice plates for connecting the first portion of the fan wheel assembly to the second portion of the fan wheel assembly about the rotary element. Methods of manufacturing and assembling the sectionalized devices and systems are also provided.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for modifying a grammar of a hierarchical multimodal menu that include monitoring a user invoking a speech command in a first tier grammar, and adding the speech command to a second tier grammar in dependence upon the frequency of the user invoking the speech command. Adding the speech command to a second tier grammar may be carried out by adding the speech command to a higher tier grammar or by adding the speech command to a lower tier grammar. Adding the speech command to a second tier grammar may include storing the speech command in a grammar cache in the second tier grammar.
Abstract:
A container for storing a liquid component of bone cement. The container includes a sealed cavity defined by a flexible film. The container can be provided in a kit that includes a flexible container for storing a monomer component of bone cement.
Abstract:
A flow verifier for in-situ verification of a device under test (DUT), including an inlet connectable to a DUT, an outlet connectable to a vacuum pump for drawing gas through the DUT and the flow verifier, a vessel having a predetermined volume, diffusive media connecting the inlet to the vessel, an outlet valve connecting the vessel to the outlet for controlling flow from the vessel to the outlet, at least one temperature sensor operatively connected to the vessel for providing temperature measurements from within the vessel, and a pressure transducer operatively connected to the vessel for providing pressure measurements from within the vessel.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a process for determining the level of agmatine in biological samples, especially that of human subjects. In one embodiment, the present invention comprises an assay and a method for quantitatively detecting agmatine in blood serum and other body fluids.
