Abstract: A conduit assembly has a retainer with a pair of retaining elements. The first of the retainers maintains a seal in the housing assembly. The second retainer retains the conduit in the housing. One of the retainers has arms with an overall U-shape including at one end, one of the arms being coupled with its ring and at the other end, the arm includes a mechanism for abutting the annular bead to retain the conduit in the housing. The arms include an insert which may be of different material to retain the conduit within the housing.

Abstract: This invention discloses a device by which fuel flow within a pressurized fuel system can accurately be measured to determine if the flow of fuel falls within an acceptable range. If the device detects that the fuel flow is not within normal operating ranges of the fuel system, then the device will provide a warning indication that a malfunction or fuel leakage is present in the fuel system or shut off power to the fuel pump providing the flow of fuel. The detection device can either be a device which detects the actual flow of the through the fuel line, or a device which detects the pressure within the fuel line. By this invention, a pending malfunction, such as fuel filter blockage or leaking fuel line, can be ascertained before the malfunction becomes a serious problem.

Abstract: A swivelable quick connect assembly for use with tubular conduits is disclosed as comprising a housing having an axial bore for receiving one end of the conduit, an elastomeric ring-like meal is disposed in the bore for providing a fluid tight seal between confronting portions of the conduit and the housing, an annular bushing is disposed in the bore for positioning the seal and for guiding the one end of the conduit into nesting relationship with the bore, and a retainer is detachably secured to the housing and is cooperable with an annular projection on the conduit for securing the conduit in its operative position within the bore, the retainer having resilient deformable portions which are adapted to snap over the locking wall upon insertion of the conduit into the housing bore.

Abstract: Disclosed is a new basic type of extension or compression spring that can be made from thin or heavy strip stock, but yields spring strengths associated with much heavier and larger springs of currently used coil, leaf and other types. Additionally, the new spring provides a two or three spring constant response consisting of a first strong spring response, then a weaker spring response, then (if desired) a strong spring response. The variable rate is controllable by design, and no new technology is required to make springs with a very wide spectrum of strength and non-linear response. The bands provide well anchored annular external flanges along the length of a section of pipe to facilitate coupling and sealing or to provide means for locating a pipe with reference to structures or devices. Abstract: The fuel filling system includes double pipe fuel delivery and tank venting plumbing. Both fuel delivery pipe and tank venting pipe are flexible and communicate with the gas tank through normally closed check valves. An inlet housing defines a vent cut-off chamber which communicates with the tank venting pipe, and also includes an annular nozzle embracing seal for isolating the end of the gas pump nozzle from the vent cut-off chamber. The gas tank is thus fully sealed by the check valves during driving, so that fuel will not spill from the tank should the filling system plumbing become ruptured or should the vehicle become overturned as a result of a collision. Fuel is introduced into the tank under positive pressure provided by the filling station fuel pump. Under pumping pressure, the check valves opens to permit the inflow of fuel and the outflow of air displaced from within the tank.

Abstract: A drainport closure device particularly suitable for a motor vehicle radiator drain valve. The device is composed of a housing and plug member. The housing communicates with a fluid containing vessel at one end and the other end receives the plug. The plug has one or more flexing arms which may be compressed to permit the plug to be moved between two positions within the housing. In the first position an "O"-ring seal carried by the plug prevents fluid drainage whereas when the plug is repositioned to a second position, fluid drainage occurs.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein an automotive window regulator and drive mechanism which includes a rotatable flexible drive shaft to transmit rotational forces from the regulator arm to a worm gear supported on a lower edge of the window. The worm gear engages a rack secured to a portion of the vehicle so as to vary the position of the window. In one embodiment, both electric motor drive and manual crank drive means are provided either of which may be selectively engaged to drive the rotatable flexible shaft. The regulator end of the flexible drive shaft may be supported in meshing engagement with a portion of the regulator drive gear by means of a pinion pivot arm which arm includes indexing gears to enable the flexible cable to track the worm gear thereby reducing the flexing of the flexible drive shaft.

Abstract: A holder for supporting a rod for rotation or longitudinal movement is molded from a plastic material. The holder is T-shaped having a central elongated portion through which the rod extends and transverse wings with apertures therethrough by which the holder is supported on a member. The cavity in the mold has a rod extending therethrough with a ring of elastomeric material thereon about which the plastic material is injected to mold the holder as a unit element with the elastomeric ring retained therein when the supporting rod is pulled therefrom. It is only necessary to insert the operating rod within the holder through the elastomeric ring which will be compressed so that it will apply a predetermined drag on the rod to restrict its longitudinal and rotational movement.
