Each contact 9 includes a mating portion (20) and an opposite tail portion (22) passing through the through hole and arranged by the alignment device. The alignment device defines a plurality of channels (304) communicating with corresponding through holes for positioning the conductors of the cable and a positioning flange for preventing the conductors from escaping from the channels.

The cable set includes a signal cable (31) and a plurality of power wires (32). The signal cable connects with the signal contacts of the first connector and terminated to the signal terminals of the second connector, while the power wires respectively connect with the power contacts of the first connector and terminated to the power terminals of the second connector. The first connector remains some power contacts free from any connection.

The pull mechanism includes a locking member (60) and a pull tape (62). The locking member includes a retaining portion (600) secured with the insulative housing, a supporting portion (603) engaged with the cover, a pressing portion (602) between the retaining portion and the supporting portion, and a pair of latch portions (6010) located close to the retaining portion. The pull tape is assembled to the pressing portion and extends through the channel away from a rear end of the cover. When the pull tape is rearwardly pulled, the pressing portion of the locking member moves toward the cover correspondingly and the latch portions downwardly moves consequently.

The spacer comprises a number of through holes (400) extending therethrough, a supporting portion (42) supporting the U-shaped tail portions, and a pair of keyways (410). A high speed cable connector (1) includes a cover (10), a base (80) and a cable assembly (30) mounted between the cover and the base. The cable assembly includes a cable (42) consisting of a plurality of lines (44). Each line has a signal pair (47, 48) and a ground conductor (492). The signal pair includes a pair of upper and lower signal conductors (472, 482). The ground conductors are soldered to shielding plates (50). The shielding plates are soldered to top and bottom faces of a rear end of a printed circuit board (PCB) (62). The upper and lower signal conductors of each signal pair are soldered to the top and bottom faces of the rear end of the PCB, respectively, and located between two neighboring shielding plates, whereby cross-talk and interference between two neighboring signal pairs can be effectively suppressed and reduced. The PCB has a front end electrically connecting with contacts (662) for electrically engaging with a complementary connector. The cable connector further has latches (88) for latching with the complementary connector, and a pull tab (82) for releasing the latching when the pull tab is pulled.
