Abstract: Various implementations described herein are directed to a methods and apparatuses for disconnecting, by a device, elements at certain parts of an electrical system. The method may include measuring operational parameters at certain locations within the system and/or receiving messages from control devices indicating a potentially unsafe condition, disconnecting and/or short-circuiting system elements in response, and reconnection the system elements when it is safe to do so. Certain embodiments relate to methods and apparatuses for providing operational power to safety switches during different modes of system operation.

Abstract: An apparatus comprising a signal transformer coupled to a power line and a signal transmission, reception, or detection circuit. A sensor is configured to be responsive to the power line current or magnetic flux generated in a ferrite core of the signal transformer. When the sensor indicates that the flux generated by the power line current mat cause an attenuation of the signal strength, a second circuit generates a current through a flux cancelling winding that cancels at least some of the flux generated by the power line current.

Abstract: Methods for arc detection in a system including one or more photovoltaic generators, one or more photovoltaic power devices and a system power device and/or a load connectible to the photovoltaic generators and/or the photovoltaic power devices. The methods may measure voltage, current, and/or power delivered to the load or system power device, and the methods may measure voltage noise or current noise within the photovoltaic system. The methods may periodically, and/or in response to detecting noise, reduce an electrical parameter such as current or voltage in order to extinguish an arc. The methods may compare one or more measurements to one or more thresholds to detect arcing, and upon a comparison indicating that arcing is or was present, an alarm condition may be set.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to bypass, using bypass circuits, non-operating power modules in a power system. Multiple power sources are coupled to inputs of respective power modules. Multiple bypass circuits have respective terminals operatively coupled to the respective outputs of the power modules. The outputs of the power modules are coupled in a series connection and the series connection is coupled across a load. Each bypass circuit includes a switch operatively coupled across a first input of a circuit and an output of a power module. A feedback circuit includes a second input coupled to an output of the circuit. A coupling circuit includes a third input coupled to an output of the feedback circuit. The coupling circuit includes an output operatively coupled across the switch. The switch is biased to provide the bypass responsive to a voltage of the output of the circuit and the voltage of the power module output.
