Abstract:
A method for synchronizing mixed-media data files that comprises receiving a streaming media file, receiving a static media file, producing a streaming media output from the streaming media file, querying the streaming output for a time marker upon receiving an input, and associating the static media file with the time marker and the streaming media file in an output file. An apparatus for synchronizing mixed-media data files that comprises a computer system including a database with one or more data structures relating to streaming media files and static media files stored on a storage device. The computer system also includes an application program coupled to the database that is configured to execute the methods described above.
Abstract:
The invention relates to porous ceramic composites incorporating biodegradable polymers for use as a bone substitute in the fields of orthopaedics and dentistry or as a scaffold for tissue engineering applications. The porous ceramic composite implant for connective tissue replacement comprises a porous ceramic matrix having a biodegradable polymer provided on internal and external surfaces of the ceramic matrix. The biodegradable polymer allows for the passage and/or delivery of a variety of agents throughout the porous ceramic matrix and improves mechanical properties of the implant in vivo.
Abstract:
A water heater including a water container; a combustion chamber adjacent the water container; a burner associated with the combustion chamber; a blower assembly located to receive combustion products generated by the burner; an intake conduit sealingly connected to the combustion chamber and having a combustion air intake opening located adjacent an upper portion of the water heater; and a dilution air conduit sealingly connected to the blower assembly and having a dilution air intake opening located adjacent a lower portion of the water heater.
Abstract:
An air compressor assembly includes an air compressor mounted to a compressed air storage tank via a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly allows removal of the air compressor from the compressed air storage tank so that the air compressor and the compressed air storage tank may be utilized independently of the other.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for controlling a distributed computing environment. The distributed computing environment is controlled by controlling flows, streams, and pipes used by applications within the distributed computing environment. The controls on each of the flows, streams, and pipes include latency, priority, a connection throttle, and a network packet throttle. Parameters for determining the values for each of the controls are based on any one or more of Virtual Local Area Network Identifier (VLAN ID), source address, destination address, source port, destination port, protocol, connection request, and transaction type load tag.
Abstract:
A projectile, including a compacted and sintered mixture of a plurality of tungsten particles and a plurality of iron particles. At least a portion of the plurality of iron particles are bonded together, and no intermetallic compounds or alloys of the tungsten particles and iron particles are formed during the compaction and sintering processes. The final density of the projectile is from about 8.1 grams per cubic centimeter to about 12.1 grams per cubic centimeter, and no substantial densification occurs during sintering. A method of producing such a projectile is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Liquidproof seams are formed between laminates, most preferably those having a complex textile structure on the sealing side of the laminate, where at least a portion of the complex textile in the sealing region is removed, such as by skiving, to reduce the thickness in the seam, or sealing region, prior to the creation of a durably sealed liquidproof seam.
Abstract:
A waveguide system for passing microwave energy while blocking foreign particles from a moving gas passing through the system is provided. The system includes first and second waveguide sections and a low loss microwave window disposed between the waveguide sections to allow microwave energy to pass from the first waveguide section through the window to the second waveguide section. The system also includes a gas bypass filtration system having a first port in communication with the first waveguide section, a filter element in communication with the first port, and a second port in communication with the filter element and with the second waveguide section. The system of the invention having these features blocks, by means of the window, a gas flowing through the first waveguide section and forces that gas to flow through the gas bypass filtration system so that it enters the second waveguide section only after passing through the filter. A system designed to include a pillbox window is also provided.
Abstract:
An internal combustion rotary engine comprising a housing, at least one sun wheel centered about the central axis and positioned within one of at least one cylindrical compartment of the housing, and including a sun wheel circumference and at least one semicylindrical receptable defined along the sun wheel circumference, at least one lobe extending from an inner cylindrical surface of the compartment, and at least one planet wheel received in the at least one semicylindrical receptable of the sun wheel. The at least one planet wheel may be configured to engage the inner cylindrical surface of the cylindrical compartment and include at least one indentation configured to be received by the at least one lobe when the at least one planet wheel rotates along the inner cylindrical surface. Air intake and compression as well as combustion and exhaust may be performed within the same or different compartments of the at least one cylindrical compartment.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving a plurality of metric-pattern combinations, each including a respective performance metric and a respective graph pattern. The method also includes receiving a corresponding parameter value for a parameter of each respective graph pattern. The method further includes determining an event equation comprising the plurality of metric-pattern combinations and a boolean operator. The method still further includes evaluating the event equation by determining a respective graph pattern fit curve by applying the corresponding parameter value to the respective graph pattern, and determining an operand value based on whether associated performance data for the respective performance metric exhibits the associated graph pattern by matching the respective graph pattern fit curve to the associated performance data. Evaluating the operand values using the boolean operator to determine a result. The method additionally includes displaying a notification, at a user interface, based on the result.
