Abstract:
To ensure that a down frame in an off-road motorcycle body frame is lightweight, rigid and easy to weld, a down frame extending downward obliquely and backward from a main frame ahead of an engine is divided along its length into a down frame front portion and a down frame rear portion. Welding joins these portions, which abut each other in the longitudinal direction. The down frame front portion is a pipe wrought product formed by extrusion molding and the down frame rear portion is a casting. Since the down frame is welded along a straight welding line extending along its length, welding is easy. Since a main joint and a lower joint are provided integrally with the down frame rear portion as a casting, a separate gusset can be omitted.
Abstract:
A electrical component attachment structure for a two-wheeled motor vehicle includes a main frame supporting components of a vehicle body such as an engine, a pair of right and left center frames extending vertically behind the engine, and a rear swing arm swingably supported by a pivot shaft provided to the center frame. In this structure, a drive chain which transmits a driving force from the engine to a rear wheel is arranged along the rear swing arm. An electrical component is arranged on a vehicle inner side of the right and left center frames above the drive chain behind the engine.
Abstract:
A water repellent anti-reflective structure with a superior water repellent function and an anti-reflective function, a method of manufacturing the same, and components of vehicles comprising the water repellent anti-reflective structure (e.g., display or window panel) are taught. Numerous cone-shaped projections having a circular or polygonal bottom surface and a diameter of a circular bottom surface or a circle circumscribing with a polygonal bottom surface within a range between 50 and 380 nm are configured to be arranged at a pitch within a range between 50 and 380 nm, having an aspect ratio within a range greater than or equal to 1.5 and made from material having a contact angle with water equal to or greater than 90°.
Abstract:
To place a muffler in a front area to make it suitable for an off-road motorcycle, A down frame extending downward obliquely from a head pipe ahead of an engine and a lower frame connected with its lower end, extending backward under the engine, are provided. A muffler is located in the vicinity of the joint between the down frame and the lower frame where its rear surface is curved forward in a convex pattern along the down frame and the lower frame. An exhaust pipe extending from a cylinder head is almost S-shaped as seen sideways and its forward curved portion and lower backward curved portion are vertically arranged with its lower end connected with a lower portion of the muffler.

Abstract:
An air cleaner device for a motorcycle including a cylindrical filter element disposed in a box of an air cleaner, wherein air purified by the element is sent to an air-intake system. Further, a rectifying member is disposed around the outer periphery of the cylindrical filter element at a predetermined distance apart therefrom and the rectifying member is formed into a cylindrical shape so as to cover the entire outer periphery of the element.
Abstract:
A variable valve timing control device includes a housing, a rotor at least one shoe portion dividing a fluid pressure chamber provided between the housing and the rotor, a plate member closing one axial end surface of the housing, plural fixing members for unitarily fixing the housing and the plate member, a vane dividing the fluid pressure chamber into an advance angle chamber and a retarded angle chamber, a lock plate provided on the rotor or the housing, an engagement groove provided on the other of the rotor and the housing for engaging the lock plate, and a relative rotation control mechanism provided on the one of the housing and the rotor. One of the fixing members is provided between one of the fluid pressure chambers and the relative rotation control mechanism and another fixing member is provided between the relative rotation control mechanism and another fluid pressure chamber.
Abstract:
A variable valve timing device includes a rotation shaft and a rotation transmitting member rotatably mounted thereon so as to define a pressure chamber between the shaft and the member. The pressure chamber is divided by a vane extending from the shaft into an advance angle space and a delay angle space. Differentiating pressures in both spaces establishes rotation of the shaft, which enables an adjustment of the phase angle between the shaft and the member. A retracting bore and a receiving bore are formed in the member and the shaft, respectively. A locking valve and a piston are fitted in the retracting bore and the receiving bore, respectively. A fluid passage is formed which extends to a boundary portion between the piston and the locking valve.
Abstract:
A chain tensioner free from excess tension caused by push-back of chain upon mounting. The chain tensioner has a support for mounting a casing at a pre-set position, a thrusting member slidably arranged within the casing for applying tension to a chain, a biasing unit for supplying a thrusting force to the thrusting member for supplying a pre-set tension to the chain when commanded, a retention unit for retaining the biasing force of the thrusting member, a retention canceling unit for canceling the state of retention by the thrusting member and a maintenance unit for maintaining a pre-set position of the thrusting member as set by the biasing unit. The retention canceling mechanism has a spring plate arranged within the casing slidably along with the support. The spring plate is moved for canceling the retention by the retention unit upon mounting.
