Abstract:
Lubricant compositions comprises a lubricant base oil and one or more compounds resulting the modification of a succinimide represented by formula (1) or (2) 1 wherein R1 and R2 may be the same or different and are each independently a hydrocarbon group having 8 to 30 carbon atoms, R3 and R4 may be the same or different and are each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R5 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, n is an integer from 1 to 7. The lubricant compositions have a long-lasting anti-shudder property, an enhanced transmission capacity for a wet clutch, and an excellent shifting property.
Abstract:
Cyclic oligomers derivable from the copolymerization of isobutylene and isoprene can be hydrogenated to form 1-(2,2,4-trimethylpentyl)-2-isopropyl-3,3,5,5-tetramethylcyclohexane and related compounds, which are useful in lubricants such as a traction fluids.
Abstract:
Disclosed are dispersed hydrated potassium borate compositions, as well as additive packages and finished oil compositions comprising the same. The dispersed hydrated potassium borate compositions of the invention exhibit low turbidity and the finished oil compositions exhibit improved wear performance under high temperature conditions.
Abstract:
Hydraulic fluids, in particular brake fluids for motor vehicles, contain from 0.005 to 0.5% by weight of one or more heterocyclic compounds I 1 where (i) X is N, Y is CR and Z is N or (ii) X is N, Y is N and Z is N or CR or (iii) X is CR, Y is N and Z is N, R being hydrogen, halogen or an organic radical R1 of 1 to 30 carbon atoms and n being 0, 1 or 2.
Abstract:
A biodegradable penetrating lubricant, comprised of: (A) at least one triglyceride oil of the formula: 1 wherein R1, R2, and R3 are aliphatic hydrocarbyl groups containing from about 7 to about 23 carbon atoms; (B) an organic solvent selected from the group comprising: (1) ethyl lactate, (2) methyl ester, and (3) combinations of 1 and 2; (C) an antioxidant; and, (D) a corrosion inhibitor. Optionally, the lubricant may further an additive selected from the group comprising: (E) a viscosity modifier; (F) an anti-wear inhibitor; and, (G) an emulsifier.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to improved gel/grease compositions as well as grease compositions capable of imparting improved corrosion resistance. The grease includes a silica/silicate mixture that can imparts a relatively high pH and corrosion resistant properties to the grease.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a fretting-resisting roller bearing of which the various characteristics are not adversely affected and which achieves a higher temperature and a higher speed as well as a longer life. In a roller bearing comprised of a plurality of rolling elements held between inner and outer races with a cage interposed therebetween, the oil film of lubricating oil of which the dynamic viscosity at 40null C. is 20 to 150 mm2/s is formed on the raceway surfaces of the inner and outer races, the cage and the rolling elements and grease is enclosed.

Abstract:
The invention provides synergistic combinations of phosphorus acid-containing compounds with ashless antioxidants. These combinations dramatically improve the oxidation stability of lubricating compositions, particularly power transmission fluids such as automatic transmission fluids.
Abstract:
A refrigerating machine oil composition which comprises, in the form of a blend, a base oil comprising a mineral oil or a synthetic oil and at least one species selected from the group consisting of a metallic salt of an inorganic phosphoric acid, e.g. potassium phosphate, an amine salt of an inorganic phosphoric acid, e.g. octylamine phosphate, a metallic salt of an organic phosphoric acid, e.g. dipotassium lauryl phosphate, an amine salt of an organic phosphoric acid, e.g. monooctylamine dioleyl phosphate, a metallic salt of an organic phosphonic acid, e.g. dipotassium oleyl phosphonate, an amine salt of an organic phosphonic acid, e.g. octylamine dilauryl phosphonate, a metallic salt of an organic phosphorous acid, e.g. sodium dioleyl phoshite, and an amine salt of an organic phosphorous acid, e.g. octylamene dioleyl phosphate. The refrigerating machine oil composition according to the present invention has excellent lubricating performance, enhances lubricity between an aluminum material and steel material, can suppress seizure and wear therebetween, does not bring about environmental pollution and thus is well suited as the lubricating oil for a refrigerating machine using, as the refrigerant, a hydrogen-containing Flon compound such as R134a.
