Abstract:
The invention relates to sheet metal or a sheet metal blank provided with a lubricant coating, especially an anti-corrosion oil of the Pre-Lube or Dry Lube variety. The sheet metal or sheet metal blank comprises a layer which is formed by applying a solution containing an organic phosphoric acid ester to the metal surface of the sheet metal. Sheet metal provided with said coating has excellent tribological properties.
Abstract:
A composition that includes solid lubricant nanoparticles and an organic medium is disclosed. Also disclosed are nanoparticles that include layered materials. A method of producing a nanoparticle by milling layered materials is provided. Also disclosed is a method of making a lubricant, the method including milling layered materials to form nanoparticles and incorporating the nanoparticles into a base to form a lubricant.
Abstract:
A waterborne composition for forming protective coatings to provide, by a simple method comprising coating and drying onto a metal surface, a coating that is uniform with little unevenness and that has an excellent galling resistance and workability that are at least as good as the corresponding properties afforded by conversion treatment methodologies, contains water-soluble inorganic salt and smectite-type clay mineral. The lubrication performance of the coating can also be improved when said composition additionally contains a lubricating component.
Abstract:
A grease composition for a precision instrument comprising a lithium soap grease or a urea grease, and an anti-wear agent, wherein the lithium soap grease and the urea grease are each a grease having no hydroxyl group in a molecule, and the anti-wear agent is contained in an amount of 0.1 to 20% by weight based on the total amount of the grease composition. By the use of the grease composition for a sliding mechanism of a precision instrument such as a watch, an appropriate slip torque can be obtained, and the precision instrument such as a watch can operate stably.
Abstract:

Gear lubricant with a low Brookfield Ratio, comprising a first base oil having low aromatics and high VI; less than 22 wt % of a second base oil with a lower VI; a pour point depressant; and an EP additive. Gear lubricant having a low Brookfield Ratio comprising: an FT derived base oil; a pour point depressing base oil blending component; and an EP additive. Processes for making gear lubricants with low Brookfield Ratios. Method for reducing Brookfield Ratio.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a lubricant composition for hot forming which makes it possible to provide lubricity at 80° C. or more without being peeled or washed by the roll cooling water, and which is easily washed under 40° C. without having water resistance. The lubricant composition for hot forming of the present invention comprises: a solid lubricant from 10 to 40% by mass; water-dispersible synthetic resin from 5 to 20% by mass; inorganic acid amine salt from 0.5 to 5% by mass; and water from 45 to 80% by mass.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a multiphase lubricant composition formed of an emulsion containing (a) a lubricant first phase, (b) a second phase formed of boric acid and a liquid that is a solvent for boric acid, but immiscible in the first phase, such as glycerol, and (c) a surfactant.
Abstract:
Emulsions and products thereof are provided. The emulsions at least include an oil component having a viscosity that is 150 centistokes at 40° C. or greater, a surfactant, and water. The emulsion components are processed by mixing with multiple and simultaneous mixing operations including at high and low shear mixing rates. The emulsions can be utilized in a variety of products including lubricants and concentrates thereof suitable for use in a number of applications including lubricant-based applications, such as metal working processes.
Abstract:
A composition is disclosed that comprises the reaction product of an acidic organic compound and a boron compound. The composition is useful as a detergent additive for lubricants and hydrocarbon fuels.
