Abstract:
A metallic body of carbon steel covered with an adhesive layer capable of adhering to a rubber matrix based on diene elastomer. The carbon content of the steel is between 0.35 and 1.2% by weight. The adhesive layer is formed of a metallic layer bearing aluminum oxides or hydroxides, which itself is covered with an organosilane film which is at least bifunctional, capable of ensuring, as coupling agent, the bond between the aluminum oxides or hydroxides on one hand, and the rubber matrix on the other hand.
Abstract:
To improve a tensile strength without impairing flexibility and adhesion strength to concrete, and to form thick coating in a surface layer part for preventing a basis material from being exposed by a damage of the coating, a method of forming double coatings on a prestressing strand includes a primary painting process after a pre-treatment process, in which a resin coating is formed only in the surface layer, a secondary painting process in which respectively individual state resin coating is formed on outer peripheral face of each of the core wire and the surrounding wires under a loosened and separated state, thereby forming a double coating in each surrounding wire, and a finishing process of tightening and retwisting the surrounding wires about the core wire to an original state. The obtained prestressing strand has the double coating portions only in the surface layer thereof and enough flexibility and adhesion strength to concrete.
Abstract:
A coated metal reinforcement element for polymeric or elastomeric materials comprises a coating of: a polymer or prepolymer compatible with and co-polymerizable, co-vulcanizable or crosslinkable with said polymeric or elastomeric material to be reinforced, and bearing functional groups; either covalently bonding to the metal surface of said reinforcement element; or forming covalent bonds with the outward directed first functional groups of a mono-or multimolecular layer of a bifunctional adhesion promotor intercalated between said metal by its second functional groups. A method for the coating includes a one step and a two step procedure.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a zinc-rich coated steel article which is characterized by an outer layer of rubber containing a weight ratio of sulfur vulcanizing agent to total accelerator ranging from 0.4:1 to 0.8:1.
Abstract:
A rubber article has a body consisting of rubber and a reinforcement structure with cables embedded in the rubber body. The cables have at least one inner layer with at least one first filament wherein at least one first filament consists of a metallic alloy. The outermost layer has second filaments embedded adhesively in the rubber body. All of the first and second filaments that consist of a metallic alloy are coated with a corrosion-protective coating. The corrosion-protective coating for at least one of the first filaments consists of an intrinsically conductive polymer.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to bead wires which has a Cu/Sn deposit having an Sn content of 9 to 13% by weight and a Cu content of 91 to 87% by weight, in an amount of 0.65 to 0.85 g per kilogram of the wire. The present invention is also directed to rubber-coated bead wires for tires comprising the plated bead wire as mentioned above, a rubber layer formed on the bead wire from a composition comprising 100 parts of a rubber polymer, 80 to 140 parts of a carbon, 4 to 10 parts of sulfur, 0.4 to 0.9 part of a vulcanization accelerator, 10 to 7 parts of zinc oxide, and 1 to 4 parts of stearic acid, and to tires prepared by using the above-mentioned bead wires. The bead wires of the present invention have excellent adhesion between the plated bead wire and the rubber layer, so that the tires obtained using such bead wires avoid wild wires.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a steel substrate with metal coatings for the reinforcement of vulcanizable elastomers, as well as a method for the continuous manufacture of a thus coated substrate and elastomer objects reinforced with said substrate. The substrate is provided with a first coating and a second coating at least covering part of the first one and a bonding layer being present between the two said coatings. The second coating comprises e.g. cobalt that can be applied by plasma sputtering. The coating combination can be easily adapted to the specific elastomer compositions and the reinforcement requirements aimed at.
Abstract:
A method of obtaining a reinforcing assembly comprising reinforcement threads and a solid matrix is characterized by the fact that reinforcement threads surrounded individually by a sheathing of organic material I and furthermore surrounded by another sheathing of organic material II are grouped together, by the fact that the material II is caused to migrate into voids between the threads sheathed with material I and by the fact that the material II is caused to solidify.
Abstract:
Brass-coated steel cord is provided with improved adhesive characteristics for use in tire making, by coating it with certain combinations of sulfur-containing accelerators and phosphate corrosion inhibitors.
