Abstract: According to an embodiment, a reading system includes a first extractor and a reader. The first extractor extracts, from an image in which a meter is imaged, a first region surrounded with a first contour, and a second region surrounded with a second contour positioned outward of the first contour. The reader calculates a first indication based on the first region, calculates a second indication based on the second region, calculates a first score relating to the first indication based on the first region, and calculates a second score relating to the second indication based on the second region.

Abstract: In an approach to integrating real-world properties into machine learning training, a real-world image is received. The real-world image is compared to a simulated image, where the comparison is performed using a discriminator network of a generative adversarial network (GAN). A generator network of the GAN is trained with results of the comparison of the real-world image to the simulated image. Responsive to determining that the real-world image is not optimal, the real-world image is iteratively tuned, using the generator network of the GAN, until it is determined that the real-world image is optimal, where the real-world image is optimal if the real-world image meets a predetermined threshold for accuracy of one or more image parameters of the simulated image versus the real-world image. The discriminator network of the GAN is trained with the real-world image.

Abstract: A learning system includes: an area candidate generation unit that generates an area candidate that is a candidate for an area in which an object is detected from an image; a ground truth area acquisition unit that obtains information about a ground truth area including the object; and a ground truth target generation unit that generates a ground truth target used for learning of an object detection unit that detects the object from the image, on the basis of a score indicating a degree of area matching between the area candidate and the ground truth area and a size of the ground truth area. According to such a learning system, it is possible to properly perform the learning in accordance with the size of the ground truth area.

Abstract: In aspects of managing quickview content for a multi-display device, the multi-display device has a primary display screen to display digital image content and a secondary display screen to display quickview content. The multi-display device implements a content control module to determine a context that indicates a characteristic of the digital image content displayed on the primary display screen. The content control module also determines the quickview content to display on the secondary display screen based on the context of the digital image content displayed on the primary display screen. The content control module then initiates displaying the quickview content on the secondary display screen. The content control module can also detect at least one individual in a region from which a secondary display screen of the multi-display device is viewable, and activate the secondary display screen in response to the individual being detected.

Abstract: A medical device monitoring system and method extract information from screen images from medical device controllers, with a single OCR process invocation per screen image, despite critical information appearing in different screen locations, depending on which medical device controller's screen image is processed. For example, different software versions of the medical device controllers might display the same type of information in different screen locations. Copies of the critical screen information, one copy from each different screen location, are made in a mosaic image, and then the mosaic image is OCR processed to produce text results. Text is selectively extracted from the OCR text results, depending on contents of a selector field on the screen image, such as a software version number or a heart pump model identifier.

Abstract: To detect “silent” crashes of communications processors in a mobile device, the mobile device analyzes signal strength icon images using a trained image processing model. During operation of a mobile device, the device captures images of a signal strength icon that is displayed by the device and that visually represents a telecommunications signal strength detected by the mobile device. The mobile device applies the captured images to the trained image processing model, which is configured to output a prediction of whether the communications processor in the mobile device crashed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for blocking screenshots and screen recordings of content are disclosed. A first media content frame is received from a first computer device. It is determined that one or more user interface elements are present in the first media content frame. The user interface elements are extracted from the first media content frame. The user interface elements are converted to video. The video is encrypted to prevent screenshot capture of the one or more user interface elements present in the first media content frame by a second computer device lacking a decryption key when the video is played on a digital screen of the second computer device. A second media content frame is generated including the first media content frame overlaid by the video. The second media content frame is transmitted to the second computer device for the second media content frame to be played.
