Abstract: An apparatus comprises a transistor pair including a first metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) coupled to a second MOSFET. The first MOSFET includes a first gate terminal and a first drain terminal. The second MOSFET comprises a second gate terminal and a second drain terminal. The first gate terminal is configured to receive a first signal. The second gate terminal is configured to receive a second signal that is phase shifted with respect to the first signal. An output node is coupled to the first drain terminal and the second drain terminal and configured to output a third signal that is proportional to a power of the first signal and the second signal.

Abstract: An example method of operation may include identifying speakers and microphones connected to a network controlled by a controller, assigning a preliminary output gain to the speakers used to apply test signals, measuring ambient noise detected from the microphones, recording chirp responses from all microphones simultaneously based on the test signals, deconvolving all chirp responses to determine a corresponding number of impulse responses, and measuring average sound pressure levels (SPLs) of each of the microphones to obtain a SPL level based on an average of the SPLs.

Abstract: Amplifiers with temperature-adaptive gain and peaking gain control are described. In one example, a temperature-adaptive amplifier includes an amplifier, a temperature sense circuit, and a peaking control level shifter to bias shift the output of the amplifier and adjust a peaking gain of the amplifier based on the temperature control signal. The peaking control level shifter can adjust a peaking gain of the amplifier based on the temperature control signal. The temperature-adaptive control can help to compensate for peaking gain in amplifiers based on the operating temperature of the amplifier. The control can help to compensate for unwanted changes in amplifier peaking gain, over time, resulting in more consistent peaking gain over the full operating frequency range of amplifiers.

Abstract: A system for calibrating signals received over a power line within a vehicle includes a signal conditioning circuit that converts the analog input signals into digital input signals. In one embodiment the circuit includes an adjustable gain circuit that outputs an amplifier gain signal establishing an amplifier gain level and an amplifier that outputs amplified signals responsive to the analog input signals and the amplifier gain signal. In another embodiment, the circuit includes a bias circuit that outputs a bias signal establishing a bias level and a comparator that generates the digital input signals responsive to the analog input signals and the bias signal. A controller receives the digital input signals and generates, depending on the embodiment, one or more control signals configured to control the configuration of the amplifier gain signal and amplifier gain level and/or the bias signal and the bias level.

Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to variable gain amplification for a sensor application. A multistage variable gain amplifier system provides variable gain amplification of an input signal. The multistage variable gain amplifier system includes a plurality of amplification stages. The multistage variable gain amplifier system further includes a power detector configured to detect a power level of an input signal received by the multistage variable gain amplifier system. The multistage variable gain amplifier system also includes a controller configured to control the amplification stages based on the power level of the input signal. The multistage variable gain amplifier system can output an output signal such that the amplification stages are controlled to adjust a gain applied to the input signal by the multistage variable gain amplifier system to output the output signal.

Abstract: An integrated system for hearing protection and enhancement having earpieces including microphones and receivers to provide for user control of ambience level (mic gain), monitor input, control over limiting of excessive levels, and frequency equalization, all with very wide input dynamic range capability and controlled output dynamic range. The user control comprises a wired or wireless smartphone app. Also, the wide input dynamic range is achieved by placement of limiter circuitry capable of handling the entire input dynamic range prior to the most dynamic range limited circuit blocks: digital EQ block, output amplifier, earpiece receiver, and the users' ears. Switches allow combining left and right signals to be directed to a user's favored ear, if necessary.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enhancing surgical outcomes by providing generators having optimal RF output for sealing, fusing and/or cutting tissue or vessels under all dynamic conditions are described. Examples of dynamic conditions may include varying tissue impedance load due to electrosurgical operations or tissue affects, any operational conditions and commands determined by the surgeon, surgical procedure and/or device script. This is achieved by implementing a digital closed-loop control system within the electrosurgical generator to regulate voltage, current, and power of the RF output. The digital closed-loop control system may include an RF amplifier for generating RF energy, a feedback system for constantly monitoring the electrical characteristics, e.g., voltage, current, and power, of the supplied RF energy to a connectable electrosurgical instrument and a microcontroller for processing measurement data from the feedback system and adjusting the output of the RF amplifier to meet a desired regulation target under any varying conditions.
