The protection of data against illicit transfer with respect to specific data can be ensured. An integrated receiver decoder determines whether or not ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) data requiring authentication is contained in selected piece-of-music data in accordance with determination data added into transmitted data. When ATRAC data requiring authentication is contained, the integrated receiver decoder performs an authentication process between it and a storage which is a transfer destination of the ATRAC data, and performs downloading of the ATRAC data after confirming that the storage is a valid apparatus to which the downloading may be performed.

A system for controlling signal processing in a multi-network device is disclosed and may include one or more circuits that enable receiving of a digital video broadcast signal. The one or more circuits may enable processing a channel of the digital video broadcast signal according to a first selection. At least one channel of the digital video broadcast signal may include broadcast multimedia content. The one or more circuits may enable receiving a cellular communication signal and processing the cellular communication signal according to a second selection. The broadcast multimedia content may include Internet content. The one or more circuits may enable storing at least a portion of the received digital video broadcast signal and at least a portion of the received cellular communication signal in a commonly accessible memory.

Aspects of the disclosure describe a method and system for the delivery and notification of user requested radio content. Aspects include a radio unit that is physically integrated with and is part of a telematics unit and receives user requested content data from a radio control center over a wireless network. The radio unit processes the user requested content data using a user request application. Further, the user requested data includes the scheduled times for one or more items of user requested content. The user request application orders the scheduled times for the one or more items of user requested content chronologically and displays the one or more items of user requested content data on the user display accordingly.

The invention relates to a system and method for the selective transmission of data to individuals or groups of viewing locations to thereby allow at selected times at least, the targeting of data which is more focussed or targeted to viewers at said locations. This is achieved by detecting and processing data which is indicative of the interaction of viewers with the receiving apparatus at each location and using this possibly in combination with other data, to assess characteristics of the viewers and then select the data to be transmitted to them.

The requested media may be received via one or both of the cellular frequency band service and/or the UHF broadcast frequency band service. The requested media may be received based on information transmitted from the mobile terminal. A particular quality of service (QoS) may be specified for the requested media, in the information transmitted from the mobile terminal.

A method and system for communicating information via a plurality of different networks may comprise requesting in a mobile terminal capable of receiving and processing cellular frequency band services and VHF/UHF broadcast frequency band services, media having a specified quality of service. A description of said requested media and/or a quality of service associated with the requested media may be displayed via a user interface in the mobile terminal. An input may be received in the mobile terminal that indicates at least one required quality of service associated with the requested media. Based on information stored in the mobile terminal, at least one required quality of service associated with the requested media may be determined. One or more required quality of service associated with the requested media may be stored in a profile within the mobile terminal.

A subscriber satellite broadcast receiver is provided. The receiver includes a tuner/demodulator for transforming satellite broadcast signals to a digital data stream, a decoder for decoding the digital data stream into a format suitable for display on a display device and a processor operatively coupled to the tuner/demodulator and the decoder. A short-range wireless transceiver is coupled to the processor for establishing a connection with a satellite broadcast service provider.
Abstract:
A circular buffer in a video delivery server tracks a second copy of a live video stream to provide instant replay capability. When an end-user initiates the instant replay function, the circular buffer is copied to an instant-replay buffer, from which a replay of the video is sent to the end-user. During replay the end-user can use playback functions such as pause, slow-play, freeze frame, etc. Upon leaving the replay function the end user rejoins the live stream. The circular buffer also enables transmission of delayed copies of the live stream, time-shifted by predetermined intervals, which copies are multicasted to end-users. Upon request, an end-user may join a delayed version of interest. This allows the user to replay interesting content by jumping to a time-delayed version without missing the show and to catch up with real-time during e.g. commercial breaks.
