Hands-free electronic devices and electronic functions that can be worn on the surface of the body in a biologically fit manner are described. The embodiments provide a convergence between electronic products, and biological, anatomical, and biomechanical aspects of the human body while providing hands-free and interchangeable wearable electronic apparatuses that can interact with human senses and physiology of a human body in a practical manner.

One embodiment of a rigid fixture for coupling one or more transducers to the center upper back of the human body. The left contact area (10) and right contact area (11) are curved surfaces designed to ergonomically fit against the trapezius muscle groups. The contact areas (10) and (11) may optionally be covered with a cushioning pads (31). Between the contact areas (10) and (11) is a center section spaced away from the spine (12) that is not in contact with the human body. One or more transducers (30) are attached or incorporated into the center section (12), which may be facilitated by transducer attach points (21). The entire fixture can be fastened to straps, belts, harnesses, backpacks, clothing, or seats by the attach points (20).

A microphone package is integrated with a built-in speaker driver. A microphone application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and the speaker driver can be directly coupled to an external application processor, eliminating a need for a codec and thus, reducing the size, cost, and/or complexity of a device. In one aspect, the speaker driver and the microphone ASIC are implemented as separate dice mounted on the package substrate. In another aspect, the speaker driver and the microphone ASIC are implemented as stacked die on the package substrate. In yet another aspect, the speaker driver and the microphone ASIC are implemented as a single die on the package substrate.

Disclosed is a modular voice amplification system for a protective mask that allows connection of a single amplifier assembly to masks of varying configurations through minimal adjustment of the system. Adapter plates in the form of mounting brackets are provided, each of which is configured for attachment to the single amplifier assembly, but is individually configured for attachment to protective masks of varying configurations through differing attachment mechanisms provided on each adapter plate.

Stereo headphones are incorporated into an attractive baseball cap wherein the headphones are attached to the cap with swivel mounted detachable snap fittings, a wire inside the cap which connects the headphones to each other, and a jack attached to the headphones which connects the headphones to an audio device. The swivel mounted detachable nap fittings can place the headphones in a variety of positions.
