Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a compound of the Formula:R.sub.1 --R.sub.2 --R.sub.3 --R.sub.4 --A--(R.sub.5).sub.n (R.sub.6).sub.3-nwherein: A is Si or Ti; R.sub.1 is an alkenoxy, acryloxy or ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylate group; R.sub.2 is a 2 to 18 carbon linear, branched or cyclo alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, acyl, aryl or poly(alkoxy) group; R.sub.3 contains a urethane, urea, or thiourethane linkage; R.sub.4 is a 2 to 18 carbon linear, branched, or cyclic alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl or acyl non-hydrolyzable silyl linking group; R.sub.5 is a 2 to 18 carbon linear, branched, or cyclic alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl or acyl group; R.sub.6 is any hydrolyzable silyl linking group (alkoxy, alkenoxy, or halogen); and n is 0 to 2.The present invention is further directed to an improved method of using of a compound of the above Formula as an adhesion promoter in a UV-curable composition for a surface with a free nucleophilic group. Preferably, that surface is glass. The present invention is yet further directed to an improved UV-curable coating composition, wherein the improvement comprises adding to said coating composition a compound of the above formula in an amount sufficient to promote adhesion of a coating to a surface with a free nucleophilic group.
Abstract:
The invention described herein generally pertains to a composition that includes a silyl-terminated polymer having silyl groups linked to a polymer backbone via triazole. The silyl-terminated polymer is a reaction product of a functionalized polymer backbone and a functionalized silane. The polymer backbone includes a first functional group, which may be one of an azide or an alkyne. The functionalized silane includes a second functional group may also be one of an azide or an alkyne, but is also different from the first functional group. The functionalized polymer backbone is reacted with the functionalized silane in the presence of a metal catalyst.
Abstract:
A method is provided for forming an adhered membrane roof system that meets Factory Mutual (FM) 4470/4474 standards for wind uplift. The method comprises applying a bond adhesive to a substrate on a roof to form an adhesive layer and applying a membrane directly to the adhesive layer. The bond adhesive includes a moisture-curable polymer.
Abstract:
The present invention is in the field of an improved method of applying a two-component adhesive, wherein the adhesive is provided packaged in a foil, typically one and the same foil, a package comprising said adhesive and an adapted sealing gun, said adapted sealing gun, and specific uses of said package and sealing gun.
