    Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus includes a conveying unit, a recording head, a head housing, and a guide rail. The recording head includes an ink ejection surface provided with a plurality of nozzles which ejects ink toward the recording medium conveyed by the conveying unit. The head housing holds the recording head. The guide rail supports the head housing so that the head housing can reciprocate with respect to the conveying belt. The ink ejection surface is parallel to a conveying surface of the conveying belt. Moreover, the ink ejection surface is inclined with respect to a horizontal direction in a cross section orthogonal to an axial direction of the conveying roller. By moving the head housing along the guide rail extending in the horizontal direction, the ink ejection surface reciprocates between a printing position close to a conveying surface and a maintenance position retracted from the conveying surface.

    Abstract: A document reading apparatus includes a display device, a document reading device, a controller, an information acquirer, and a word extractor. The document reading device reads an image of a document. The controller saves a file of image data, obtained through reading operation by the document reading device, in a storage device, with a file name assigned to the file. The information acquirer acquires information having high relevance to the document image, through a search engine using the document image represented by the image data as search criterion. The word extractor extracts, on a basis of character information included in the information acquired by the information acquirer, a prospective word for the file name out of a character group indicated by the character information. The controller assigns the prospective word for the file name extracted by the word extractor, to the file of the image data, as the file name.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a charger that charges the surface of the image bearing member to positive polarity, a light exposure device that exposes the charged surface of the image bearing member to light to form an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the image bearing member, a development device that develops the electrostatic latent image into a toner image, a transfer device that transfers the toner image from the image bearing member to a transfer target, a cleaning member that collects toner attached to the surface of the image bearing member by contacting the surface of the image bearing member, and a controller that controls voltage to be applied to the cleaning member. The controller causes a first voltage with negative polarity to be applied to the cleaning member in a printing mode.

    Abstract: A sheet storage device includes a regulation cursor and a hold mechanism. The hold mechanism includes a guide shaft, and a stopper having a guide hole in which the guide shaft is inserted, and being capable of reciprocating with the regulation cursor. When the stopper is inclined to one side, movement of the regulation cursor is restricted. When the stopper is raised to the other side, movement of the regulation cursor is enabled. The stopper has a contact part that contacts the regulation cursor, so as to restrict the stopper from inclining to the other side, when the regulation cursor is enabled to move.

    Abstract: A drying device according to the present disclosure includes a conveying device, an air blowing device, and an exhaust device. The conveying device conveys a medium on which an image is formed, along a predetermined conveyance direction. The air blowing device sends air toward the medium from above the medium conveyed by the conveying device to dry the medium. The exhaust device takes in air above the medium from both sides of the conveying device in a width direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction and exhausts the taken air to an outside.

    Abstract: Printing operations may use a hot folder. The hot folder includes printing instructions that are applied to print jobs within the hot folder. A file for the print job is stored in the hot folder. More than one file can be retained. Modifications to the file are made while it is within the hot folder, if allowed. Once processing of the file for printing operations is complete, the file is removed from the hot folder.

The sensor senses the sheet on a downstream side of the transfer portion in a conveyance direction of the sheet and an upstream side of the fixing portion in the conveyance direction. The duct extends from an air intake port to an air blowing port. The air intake port is open on an upper surface of the image forming apparatus. The air blowing port is open toward the sensor. The airflow generation portion generates airflow that moves in the duct from the air intake port to the air blowing port.

    Abstract: In a fixing device, a heater heats an endless rotatable fixing belt. A retention member includes a groove for retaining a lubricant and retains the heater such that a surface on a front side comes into contact with an inner circumferential surface of the fixing belt via the lubricant. A pressure member is pressed against the heater while the fixing belt is interposed therebetween and forms, with the fixing belt, a pressure region for heating and pressurizing a paper sheet onto which a toner image has been transferred. A guide guides the paper sheet to the pressure region. The guide causes the paper sheet to come into contact with the fixing belt at a position more on a downstream side of a rotation direction of the fixing belt than the groove, to guide the paper sheet to the pressure region.
