    Abstract: An object detection system and method includes: an optical image sensor arranged to perform the following steps: capturing a calibration image during a calibration stage, dividing the calibration image into a plurality of quadrants, and calculating a parameter for each of the quadrants; capturing a plurality of raw images during a detection stage, dividing each image of the raw images into a plurality of quadrants, and calculating a parameter for each of the quadrants; comparing the respective parameters of each quadrant of a raw image with the respective parameters of each quadrant of the calibration image to generate a ratio value for each quadrant; and comparing the ratio value of each quadrant with a predetermined threshold. When each ratio value of specific quadrants of the quadrants is greater than the predetermined threshold, object detection is confirmed.

    Abstract: A smoke detector includes a substrate, an optical detection module, a base and a top cover. The substrate has a ring shape region surrounding a central detection region, and a first block structure of the central detection region is protruded from the substrate and higher than an upper surface of the ring shape region. The optical detection module is disposed inside the central detection region. The base is disposed on the substrate and around the optical detection module. The base has a second block structure. The top cover is connected to the base. A lateral wall of the top cover is partly overlapped with the second block structure to form a guiding channel. The optical detection module analyzes variation of scattering parameters resulted from gaseous matter entering the top cover through the guiding channel for determining concentration of the gaseous matter.

    Abstract: A security camera with a motion detection function, which comprises: an image sensor, configured to capture original images; a variation level computation circuit, configured to compute image variation levels of the original images; a long term computation circuit, configured to calculate a first average level for the image variation levels corresponding to M of the original images; a short term computation circuit, configured to calculate a second average level for the image variation levels corresponding to N of the original images, wherein M>N; and a motion determining circuit, configured to determine whether a motion of an object appears in a detection range of the image sensor according to a relation between the first average level and the second average level. By such security camera, the interference caused by noise or small object can be avoided. Accordingly, the motion detection of the security camera can be more accurate.

    Abstract: There is provided an optical sensor including a light source, a first pixel, a second pixel and a processor. The first pixel generates a first output signal by receiving reflected light from an external object illuminated by the light source. The second pixel generates a second output signal by receiving reflected light from an inner surface of a package illuminated by the light source. The processor generates a random code according to the second output signal to modulate the light source, identifies whether to change an emission pattern of the light source according to a distance calculated according to the first output signal, and changes exposure intervals of the first pixel and the second pixel.

    Abstract: An electronic device for estimating a temperature value of a thermistor includes a first signal port, an analog-to-digital converter, and a processing circuit. When the thermistor is coupled to the first signal port of the electronic device, the processing circuit is arranged to operate in a first switching condition to detect and generate a first voltage difference to the analog-to-digital converter, to operate in a second switching condition to detect and generate a second voltage difference to the analog-to-digital converter; and, the analog-to-digital converter is arranged to determine a resistance value of the thermistor based on the first voltage difference compared to the second voltage difference and to generate the estimated temperature value according to the determined resistance value.
