Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, such as a user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a set of configurations including a set of random access channel (RACH) configurations or a set of scheduling request (SR) configurations. At least one RACH configuration of the set of RACH configurations includes a UE-group common RACH configuration or at least one SR configuration of the set of SR configurations includes a UE-group common SR configuration. The UE may select one or more configurations of the set of RACH configurations or the set of SR configurations based on receiving the control signaling and may perform the wireless communications.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support reduced bandwidth devices and particularly, allocation of control resource sets for reduced bandwidths. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, from a base station at a user equipment (UE) having a first type, a master information block (MIB) within a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The MIB includes CORESET size information and search space information for devices having a second type. The method also includes selecting a CORESET size from a plurality of preconfigured CORESET sizes based on a subcarrier spacing used to communicate with the base station. The method further includes monitoring a set of time and frequency resources to receive a message from the base station. The set of time and frequency resources has the selected CORESET size. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for signaling procedures that use a hierarchical mobility, which may be applied when a user equipment (UE) is operating in a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state or the RRC idle state. A wireless communication system may be configured with a plurality of areas in which one or more networks are established for communicating certain types of signals. Examples of the areas associated with networks may include a tracking area (TA), a radio access network area code (RAN-AC), a radio access network based notification area (RNA). A synchronization signal or a paging signal may be transmitted using a first set of communication resources in a first area, while the synchronization signal or the paging signal may be transmitted using a second set of communication resources in a second area different than the first set of communication resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a network entity may configure a user equipment (UE) with transmission time interval (TTI) format information, and the UE may determine time domain windows for joint channel estimation based thereon. The network entity may also configure the UE with an association between one or more demodulation reference signal (DMRS) ports and one or more phase-tracking reference signal (PTRS) ports. The UE may maintain phase continuity across physical uplink channel transmissions within a time domain window in which a PTRS is scheduled when DMRS and PTRS are transmitted via the associated DMRS and PTRS ports (e.g., when the PTRS-DMRS association is identical across the time domain window). In some cases, the UE may not maintain phase continuity across multiple physical uplink channel transmissions occurring within a time domain window when a PTRS is also scheduled within the time domain window.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message identifying a frequency hop configuration that configures the UE to use frequency hopping when transmitting repetitions of an uplink control channel transmission. The UE, the base station, or both may determine, based on the UE being configured with the frequency hop configuration, a frequency hop for each repetition of the uplink control channel transmission. Each frequency hop may be determined based on a corresponding uplink control channel index for a respective repetition a frequency hop for each repetition of the uplink control channel transmission. The uplink control channel index may be an uplink transmission occasion index, or a repetition index. The UE may transmit the repetitions of the uplink control channel transmission using respective frequency hops in accordance with the determination and the frequency hop configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE), that is configured for demodulation reference signal (DMRS) bundling, may receive a control message that schedules first and second sets of repetitions of an uplink transmission. The UE may determine a phase coherency configuration to be applied for DMRS transmissions corresponding to each set of repetitions. The phase coherency configuration may be determined based on a phase coherency capability of the UE, and the phase coherency configuration may specify that phase coherency is to be maintained for one or more of the first set of repetitions separate from one or more of the second set of repetitions. The UE may transmit the first set of repetitions with a first set of demodulation reference signals and the second set of repetitions with a second set of demodulation reference signals in accordance with the phase coherency configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit uplink transmissions according to a frequency hopping pattern. The UE may identify that a first set of uplink transmissions are to be transmitted to a base station by a first set of resources (e.g., a first set of slots, a first set of frequency resources) as indicated by the frequency hopping pattern. The UE may further identify, based on the frequency hopping pattern, that a second set of uplink transmissions are to be transmitted to the base station by a second set of resources (e.g., a second set of slots, a second set of frequency resources). The first set of slots and the second set of slots may each include more than one slot. Additionally, the first and second set of resources may be within a same bandwidth part or in different bandwidth parts.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for selection of different sets of transmission beams by a user equipment (UE) for establishing beamformed communications with a base station. Each transmission beam of a first set of transmission beams may have corresponding uplink random access channel (RACH) resources. A UE may monitor for transmission beams from a base station and select a first transmission beam of the first set for communications with the base station. As part of a connection establishment, the base station may provide configuration information that indicates a second set of transmission beams that includes each transmission beam of the first set of transmission beams and at least an additional transmission beam. In some cases, the additional transmission beam may be mapped to a first RACH resource that also corresponds to a first transmission beam of the first set of transmission beams.
