Abstract:
A processing system for automating the packaging, packing, unpacking, transfer/short term storage and loading of flats mail into flats sorters for sortation is disclosed. This involves bundling flats mail into bundles or logs and creating pallets for transporting in a standardized manner at mailer facilities such as publishers so that the sort depth and final destination of the bundle contents are preserved and used throughout its journey through postal facilities. Sort depth and destination bar coding is placed on each bundle. An automated method for palletizing involves creating a stack of bundles on a pallet in a predetermined sequence so that sorting processes in the postal facility become more efficient. Once the pallets are received at the postal facilities, the pallets are broken down in a pre-determined sequence in accordance with the sequence of original creation. The bundles are scanned into the sorter processes of the postal facility where the scanned information concerning destination codes and sort depth facilitates or eliminates routing and sorting within the postal facility, thereby reducing overhead and costs. A system to create pallets using both robotic and conveyor mechanisms is disclosed.
Abstract:
A transport system for advancing containers includes a curve section for defining a curved transport path which is defined by a curve radius, and a driving and guiding assembly for advancing and guiding a container along the transport path. The driving and guiding assembly has support elements, which support the underside of the container, and is constructed to bear upon at least one of the sidewalls, at least along portions thereof, in a force-locking or form-fitting manner for propulsion of the container. The container has an underside formed with two longitudinal sidewalls extending mirror-symmetrically and curved outwardly or inwardly at a radius, which corresponds to the curve radius, such that a distance between the sidewalls is at a maximum or minimum in mid-section of the sidewalls.
Abstract:
A method of retrofitting a magnetic centerguide to a grid. The grid is of the type adapted to carry a pan along a path defined by a conveyor to which the grid is attached. The centerguide is of bifurcated construction which is split at one or both ends of its structure in order to allow it to be maneuvered about the grid structure for partial assembly. After being partly assembled, a fastener secures the bifurcated portion together to provide a magnetic centerguide in which the underside of a magnet is attracted to and thereby guides a pan when placed on the grid.
Abstract:
A magnetic centerguide for a grid structured for travel along the path of a conveyor. The grid defines a support surface that supports a pan. The guide generally comprises a magnet-carrying guide member mounted to the grid, normally but not necessarily on the grid centerline, and adjustable in a vertical direction relative to the support surface. The guide functions with numerous types of pans having different configurations of dough-carrying pockets and inter-pocket gaps. The guide member automatically adjusts its vertical position to contact the underside of the pan under a pocket or in an inter-pocket gap.
Abstract:
A loader picks up a workpiece from a container, and delivers it to a workstation downstream. An unloader receives the workpiece from the workstation upstream and puts it into a container. In the loader and the unloader respectively, a first stacker and a second stacker, for holding containers in stacked manner, are placed in parallel along direction Y. A table working as a container moving mechanism moves an extracted container along direction Y. A first container transfer mechanism extracts a container from the containers stacked in the first stacker and delivers it to the container moving mechanism. A second container transfer mechanism receives the container from the moving mechanism, and stacks it in the second stacker. A transfer-head working as a workpiece transfer mechanism picks up the workpiece from the container on the table, moves it along direction X, and delivers it to the workstation downstream.
Abstract:
The invention provides a tray support plate assembly instead of a single cast unitary part for a tray carrier used in a mogul machine. The high wear or failure areas of the tray support plate assembly have been designed as removable and replaceable separate parts that are fastened onto the tray support plate. The support plate may be machined from aluminum billet material. The individual parts such as the end pick plate may also be made of aluminum plate material. Preferably the cam plate is made of steel material. A pair of cam mechanisms can be provided on opposed sides of the tray support plate.
Abstract:
An order merging system includes two first case guides with a pair of twisted lanes. The case guides are downwardly sloped and guide a product case along in each case guide. Two raisable guides are connected downstream of the case guides and are in communication with them. Two other case guides in communication with the raisable guides, which are lowered to allow the product cases from the first case guides to merge onto the other case guides.

A pallet dispenser and a method for stripping a lowermost pallet from a vertical stack of at least two pallets is disclosed. The pallet dispenser includes a pallet magazine for containing the vertical stack of pallets and a platform disposed below the pallet magazine. The platform is configured to support the vertical stack of pallets such that the lowermost pallet rests on the platform. The pallet dispenser also includes a cantilevered pusher bar configured to push the lowermost pallet from under the vertical stack of pallets and out of the pallet magazine. In another embodiment, the pallet dispenser may include motion means for providing motion to the stack of pallets.
Abstract:
The invention is a pallet pin which contains an integral floating magnet assembly The floating magnet assembly is mounted within the internal cavity of the pin and is attached to a longitudinally extending member which is coaxial with the fanner housing. The floating magnet assembly is provided with low-function rollers which engage a cylindrical track extending longitudinally from the top to the bottom of the housing. The magnet assembly is thereby permitted to traverse freely the length of the interior of the housing of the device, permitting the magnet assembly to position itself in relation to an adjoining sheet of magnetic material, and to induce the upper sheets of a stack of magnetic materials to separate. The floating magnet assembly automatically repositions itself in relation to the top of the stack as sheets are removed from the stack. The magnetic assembly includes one or more permanent magnets to provide the magnetic forces to separate the sheets, without the requirement for external power, such as that required by electromagnets. The entire assembly is mounted within a housing having a handle, and one or more locating pins for the purpose of positioning the entire assembly in relation to a pallet which sheets of magnetic material may be stored. This permits the invention to be used to both restrain lateral movement of the sheets of magnetic material and providing separating forces to separate the upper sheets from the stack so that they may be gripped, otherwise manipulated for removal from the stack.
