A facsimile machine including a data processing system for processing data to be transmitted and received data according to a predetermined manner, which system typically comprises a MODEM, a buffer and a CODEC. The facsimile machine includes two or more interface units dedicated for performing a wire communication function for communicating image data in a wire communication mode using a telephone network and a radio communication function for communicating image data in a radio or wireless communication mode using radio waves. The radio/wire switchable facsimile machine includes a switch which switchingly establishes the wire mode or the radio mode. In one embodiment, the switch is manually operated. In a second embodiment the switch automatically establishes either one of the wire and radio modes in accordance with the current status of a predetermined signal, typically an off-hook signal, which indicates whether the handset of a telephone unit is hooked or unhooked or whether the microphone of a radio set is hooked or unhooked.

Provided is an image forming apparatus that allows a remote operation terminal to operate an image processing apparatus connected by SIP. On this account, the image forming apparatus (100) connected to the remote operation terminal (300) by SIP includes a remote operation-request message receiving part that receive a remote-operation request message from the remote operation terminal (300), a remote-operation response message transmitting part that transmits a remote-operation response message in response to the remote-operation request message, and an operation-screen information transmitting part that transmits operation screen information of the image forming apparatus (100) to the remote operation terminal (300) in accordance with the communication condition of the communication session when an SIP-based communication session is established between the remote operation terminal (300) and the image forming apparatus (100).

An information processing apparatus capable of reliably switching a session. An IP fax as an information processing apparatus is connected to another IP fax. The IP fax establishes an audio session with the other IP fax. After establishing the audio session, the IP fax receives capability information indicating capabilities of the other IP fax therefrom. After receiving the capability information, the IP fax requests the other IP fax to switch the audio session to a T.38 session. Then, the IP fax switches the audio session to the T.38 session.

A modem transmission level and modem sensitivity which are communication control information corresponding to the connection form of each destination device are registered in advance in a destination information storage unit so as to be correlated with an abbreviated dialing number of the destination. When a communication instruction using an abbreviated dialing number is received, if a modem transmission level and modem sensitivity are registered in the destination information storage unit as corresponding to the received abbreviated dialing number, the modem is controlled based on those registered modem transmission level and modem sensitivity. If neither a modem transmission level or modem sensitivity is registered as corresponding to the received abbreviated dialing number, the modem is controlled according to a modem transmission level and modem sensitivity that are registered in advance in the apparatus.
Abstract:
Facsimile transcoding is dynamically invoked for devices that do not support T.38 fax protocol. In this way, a unified messaging platform can process facsimiles from endpoints that are not T.38 capable without using without digital signal processor resources. Dynamic fax transcoding can be performed at a session border controller, allowing transcoding resources to be engaged only for non-T.38 endpoints rather than for all calls on an interface.

A network configuration file is generated at a host computer and downloaded to a digital camera. This file contains instruction information for communicating with a selected destination via a communications interface. The digital camera includes a “send” button or LCD icon which allows the user to easily transmit one or more images via a wired or wireless communications interface to a desired destination, which among other possibilities may be an Internet Service Provider or a digital photofinishing center. When the user selects this option, the communications port settings, user account specifics, and destination connection commands are read from the network configuration file on the removable memory card. Examples of these settings include serial port baud rate, parity, and stop bits, as well as account name and password.

Communication-identifier-assigned image data is transmitted via a set channel using the same as a communication identifier set for each image transmitter and a channel set in transmission. Then, a receiver which has received a plurality of image data items stores the received image data items, communication identifiers, and channels in such a manner that the received image data items are related to the communication identifiers and channels. Thumbnailed images in each image data item are displayed on one screen. When an image is selected from the thumbnailed images, an image transmitter that has transmitted the image is determined on the basis of the communication identifier and channel related to the selected image and is connected exclusively to the receiver. Images acquired from this time on are enlarged and displayed chronologically on a display section. The image transmitter and receiver constitute a wireless communication system.

Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, a digital camera system and a computer-readable medium for processing digital image assets of a digital camera. In one embodiment, a method includes the steps of automatically matching an asset scheme of the digital camera to a best available asset normalizer of a predetermined set of asset normalizers and processing assets of the digital camera into a standard structure in accordance with the best available asset normalizer.
