Abstract:
Radiation-sensitive emulsions are disclosed comprised of high bromide tabular grains containing a peripheral band of increased iodide concentration. The tabular grains exhibit an average equivalent circular diameter of at least 2.0 .mu.m and are of a face centered cubic crystal lattice structure of the rock salt type. The tabular grains include central and peripheral regions extending between their major faces. The peripheral region is up to 0.2 .mu.m in width and contains an iodide concentration at least 2 mole percent higher than that of the central region measured at a location adjacent the peripheral region. Dislocations are present in the peripheral region to increase sensitivity and are minimized in the central region to maintain relatively constant sensitivities when pressure is applied locally.
Abstract:
An emulsion of enhanced photographic sensitivity and reduced contrast is disclosed containing high bromide tabular grains having a non-uniform iodide distribution, including (a) a peripheral zone extending inwardly from edges and corners of the tabular grains and providing (i) a maximum iodide concentration along the edges and (ii) a lower iodide concentration at the corners than elsewhere along the edges, (b) a central zone providing a minimum iodide concentration and accounting for at least 35 percent of total silver forming the tabular grains and, (c) extending from the central zone to the peripheral zone, an intermediate zone (i) containing a higher iodide concentration than the central zone, ranging from greater than 2 to 10 mole percent, based on silver forming the intermediate zone, and (ii) accounting for from 5 to 35 percent of total silver forming the tabular grains.
Abstract:
A telecommunication network includes first subscribers supported by a first local telecommunication switch. A first signal is received from the first switch at a second telecommunication switch disposed at a hierarchical level above the first switch. The first signal indicates to the second switch that features based on organizational affiliation of the calling party are to be provided. A second signal is received at the second switch from the first switch indicative of the identification of the calling party. A record in a database coupled to the second switch is located in response to receiving the second signal; the location of the record being based on the identification of the calling party. A group affiliation parameter stored in said record is identified; the group affiliation parameter defines one organization of which the calling party is a member. The second switch transmits a call setup message to a third switch associated with a called party. The call setup message includes the group affiliation parameter so that the calling party's membership in the one organization is available for further call processing.
Abstract:
Reinforced thermoplastic compositions are provided comprising a poly(1,4-butylene terephthalate) resin, a resin selected from a poly(ethylene terephthalate) resin, a polycarbonate resin or a mixture thereof, a fibrous glass reinforcement and a minor amount of zinc stearate. The compositions are moldable to articles having improved resistance to warpage during heat treatment in comparison with molding compositions of glass reinforced poly(1,4-butylene terephthalate).

Anodes particularly suitable for use in electrolytic cells are prepared by coating an electrically-conductive substrate with a bimetallic oxide having a spinel structure of the formula M.sub.x Co.sub.3-x O.sub.4 where O

Abstract:
The selector switch has two operating positions, indicated by different colors of light. An operator knob having two spaced translucent portions of different colors is drivingly connected to a tubular switch operator rotor. A lamp shield is received within the rotor around a lamp. The lamp shield has an aperture which directs light only through the translucent portion of the selector switch knob directly over the aperture so that the color of the visible light corresponds to a particular operating position of the selector switch knob.
Abstract:
A technique is described for the generation of a pattern on printed wiring boards bearing a layer of copper. The technique involves the use of a solder cream as an etch resist, the cream comprising a slurry of solder suspended in a curable resin flux. The use of the cream as an etch resist is similar to the use of either ink or solder plate for such purposes. However, the process described is far more economical than currently used techniques and provides a preferred alternative.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for orienting a probe or the like in a predetermined angular orientation within a long, curved conduit at selected longitudinal positions therewithin. A steam generator tube may comprise all or part of the curved conduit. Curved extension members may be added to an end or ends of the tube to form curved lengths of conduit including the tube.
