Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: an image display unit in which pixels are arranged, each of the pixels including a fourth sub-pixel and surrounding sub-pixels arranged around the fourth sub-pixel, the fourth sub-pixels of the respective pixels being arranged in a two-dimensional matrix and displaying a white color component as a fourth color, each of the pixels sharing at least one of the surrounding sub-pixels with an adjacent pixel adjacent to the pixel; and a signal processing unit that, based on a first input video signal for a specific pixel and a second input video signal for an adjacent pixel adjacent to the specific pixel, generates an output signal for the surrounding sub-pixels belonging to the specific pixel and outputs the generated output signal to the image display unit.

Abstract: An image display device includes an image display unit including first pixels each constituted of sub-pixels of three or more colors included in a first color gamut and second pixels each constituted of sub-pixels of three or more colors included in a second color gamut different from the first color gamut, the first pixels and the second pixels being arranged in a matrix and adjacent to each other; and a processing unit that determines an output of the sub-pixels included in each pixel of the image display unit corresponding to an input image signal. The processing unit determines an output of the sub-pixels included in the other one of the pixels based on part of components of an input image signal corresponding to one of the first pixel and the second pixel that are adjacent to each other.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes first to fourth sub-pixels. The first to fourth sub-pixels are each divided into N (N≥2) sub-divided pixels having different areas and can perform N-bit gradation display. Gradation display for a mixed color combining two types out of the first to fourth sub-pixels includes: the N-bit gradation display including 2N-step gradation; and halftone gradation display. In first and second gradation display, an area ratio between the sub-divided pixels driven and those not driven in one of the two types is equal to that in the other of the two types. In the second gradation display, a total area ratio of the sub-divided pixels driven to those not driven is greater than that in the first gradation display. In the halftone gradation display, an area ratio between the sub-divided pixels driven and those not driven is different between the two types.
