Abstract:
A wireless terminal (and associated method) for communicating pictures via a wireless communication system. The pictures can be either maintained in the wireless terminal in galleries, each gallery including typically up to eight pictures, or the pictures can be stand-alone pictures. When maintained in galleries and stored in non-volatile memory of the wireless terminal, in an electronic folder, the pictures are termed clip-art pictures. The invention allows sending an entire gallery at a time as, among other formats, a single so-called Graphical Messaging System (GMS) picture (18×72 pixels). The invention also allows sending individual clip-art pictures in a message including text, actually in-line with the text of the message or indicating where in the text the clip-art pictures would appear in a wireless terminal adapted to the invention. In addition, the invention provides a picture editor allowing a user to create or edit either a clip-art or a standalone picture.
Abstract:
The present invention provides optical fiber coating systems and coated optical fibers having hydrophilic primary coatings. According to one embodiment of the invention, a coated optical fiber includes an optical fiber having a core and a cladding; a hydrophilic primary coating encapsulating the optical fiber, the primary coating having a Young's modulus less than about 2 MPa; and a secondary coating encapsulating the primary coating, wherein the primary coating exhibits substantially no water bubble formation and substantially no delamination when the coated optical fiber is soaked in water at 23° C. for 30 days.
Abstract:
Pyroelectric detector systems may be used in vehicles for security applications, such as intrusion detection and anti-theft alarms. The pyroelectric detectors are small in size, highly reliable and consume very low power. They can be physically and electrically integrated with other vehicle components, including rear-view mirror assemblies in automobiles, without incurring additional installation costs. They can also be easily integrated into aircraft cockpits.
