Abstract:
A medical system that allows a medical device to be controlled by one of two input devices. The input devices may be consoles that contain handles and a screen. The medical devices may include robotic arms and instruments used to perform a medical procedure. The system may include an arbitrator that determines which console has priority to control one or more of the robotic arms/instruments.
Abstract:
An ignition coil, spark plug, and pressure sensor for an internal combustion engine are, in a preferred embodiment, integrated into a single assembly and mounted directly on a plug hole of an internal combustion engine. A hard spark plug shell serves as a pressure member and on which a strain gage is affixed. Changes in the pressure in the combustion chamber deform the shell, causing a corresponding change in the resistance of the strain gage. A bridge circuit or the like is used to measure the resistance change thereby providing a direct indication of cylinder pressure.
Abstract:
Methods and systems in accordance with the present invention manage bandwidth use in broadcast communications. More particularly, methods and systems in accordance with the present invention may be used to achieve reliable broadcast communications in a wireless network. They may provide network communication software that controls when data packets are transmitted via a wireless physical layer interconnect, thus increasing the overall reliability and throughput that are achieved when using broadcast communications. Methods and systems in accordance with the present invention improve throughput in various types of networks, e.g., Ethernet networks in which the network switches have a limited broadcast capacity, including wired networks.
Abstract:
A Fibre Channel switch is presented that tracks the congestion status of destination ports in an XOFF mask at each input. A mapping is maintained between virtual channels on an ISL and the destination ports to allow changes in the XOFF mask to trigger a primitive to an upstream port that provides virtual channel flow control. The XOFF mask is also used to avoid sending frames to a congested port. Instead, these frames are stored on a single deferred queue and later processed in a manner designed to maintain frame ordering. A routing system is provided that applies multiple routing rules in parallel to perform line speed routing. The preferred switch fabric is cell based, with techniques used to manage path maintenance for variable length frames and to adapt to varying transmission rates in the system. Finally, the switch allows data and microprocessor communication to share the same crossbar network.
Abstract:
A continuous composter is provided with self contained aeration zones so that air circulation is confined to any one zone to avoid transmission of bacteria through a composting tunnel. An inlet fan and an exhaust fan are provided for each zone and suction through the exhaust fan is provide stronger than inlet pressure so that gases do not percolate through the tunnel. Similarly water and leachate are removed from the system without contact with downstream composting garbage. Any recirculation of gas or leachate takes place only in the zone from which it has come.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates in part to pharmaceutical compositions comprising polymeric nanoparticles having certain glass transition temperatures. Other aspects of the invention include methods of making such nanoparticles.
Abstract:
The automated pet cage includes a locking assembly for the door of the pet case, which is able to remotely or autonomously unlock and open the door of the pet cage as needed or in an emergency. The locking assembly is integrated into the design of the door of the pet cage, and provides for manual or autonomous operation in order to open the pet cage in a plurality of situations. The locking assembly is in communication with a display console that is in control over operation of the automated pet cage. The display console can remotely interface with a cellular telephone/Bluetooth enabled device in order to receive remote instructions in order to open the door of the pet cage. The display console also communicates wirelessly with the locking assembly.
Abstract:
A multi-user medical robotic system for collaboration or training in minimally invasive surgical procedures includes first and second master input devices, a first slave robotic mechanism, and at least one processor configured to generate a first slave command for the first slave robotic mechanism by switchably using one or both of a first command indicative of manipulation of the first master input device by a first user and a second command indicative of manipulation of the second master input device by a second user. To facilitate the collaboration or training, both first and second users communicate with each other through an audio system and see the minimally invasive surgery site on first and second displays respectively viewable by the first and second users.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to nanoparticles having about 0.2 to about 35 weight percent of a therapeutic agent; and about 10 to about 99 weight percent of biocompatible polymer such as a diblock poly(lactic) acid-poly(ethylene)glycol. Other aspects of the invention include methods of making such nanoparticles.
Abstract:
The present invention provides devices and methods for attachment of an endolumenal gastrointestinal device, such as an artificial stoma device, a gastrointestinal bypass sleeve or other therapeutic or diagnostic device, within a patient's digestive tract. In one application of the invention, an endolumenal bypass sleeve is removably attached in the vicinity of the gastroesophageal junction to treat obesity and/or its comorbidities, such as diabetes. The bypass sleeve may be at least partially deployed by eversion.
