Abstract:
A device for uphill start-up assistance for a motor vehicle including a control for controlling release of the vehicle mechanical brakes that act on the vehicle wheels, so that the vehicle is maintained on the slope when maneuvering uphill without any intervention from the driver on this maintaining condition. The control uses mainly the state of the slope, the interpretation and anticipation of the commands of driver and/or of a central driving member, and the determined instantaneous clutching characteristics. In a preferred embodiment, the assistance device co-operates with an electrical device of the parking brake.
Abstract:
A method for controlling at least two clutches in a twin-clutch gearbox of a motor vehicle, wherein at least one clutch is opened by at least one emergency valve. A twin-clutch gearbox of a motor vehicle, consisting of at least two clutches actuated by at least one clutch actuator by means of a release system, especially for carrying out said method, whereby an emergency valve is provided in order to open at least one clutch.
Abstract:
A braking force retaining unit has a cut-off valve and a control unit. The cut-off valve retains predetermined brake hydraulic pressure at the wheel cylinders until a predetermined releasing condition is established even after the depression of a brake pedal is released when a vehicle is stopped, whereas when the predetermined releasing condition is established, the brake hydraulic pressure so retained is released, when the depression of the brake pedal is released, the control unit controls the cut-off valve so as to retain the brake hydraulic pressure while reducing the retained brake hydraulic pressure at a first reduction speed. When the predetermined releasing condition is established, the control unit controls the cut-off valve so as to allow the brake hydraulic pressure retained at the wheel cylinders to be reduced at a second reduction speed which is faster than the first reduction speed.
Abstract:
A method and an actuating arrangement for automatically actuating a component of a motor vehicle brake is actuated by an externally applied force and independently of an actuation of a brake pedal by the driver of the vehicle clutch actuation occurs at times when the speed of the vehicle is substantially zero, or when the vehicle rolls backward with the gearbox engaged in a forward gear, or when the vehicle rolls forward with the gearbox engaged in a reverse gear. Clutch wear and tear is thereby reduced. Additionally, the vehicle clutch can also be automatically actuated by an externally applied force, to engage or to disengage the clutch based upon predetermined operating parameters of components of the vehicle.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and a device for assisting a vehicle to start on a slope, wherein a vehicle brake torque is changed corresponding to an estimated vehicle driving torque in consideration of a downgrade torque. According to the invention, the method is executed with the following steps of determining a vehicle driving torque reference value, comparing the reference value with the estimated vehicle driving torque, and influencing the brake torque in accordance with the comparison result (FIG. 1).
Abstract:
When a vehicle is suddenly stopped by turning off an ignition key switch on a way of a slope road, a braking force maintaining control is not preformed, and it often occurs that the vehicle moves down along the slope road. To prevent such occurrence, an electro-mechanical braking device for maintaining the braking force is provided so that the vehicle is parked securely. The electro-mechanical braking device includes a parking brake mechanism for maintaining the brake force even when an ignition key switch (power supply switch) of the vehicle is turned off. When the power supply switch (ignition key switch) of the vehicle is turned off with a braking pedal being stroked or a braking operation signal being present, the parking-brake mechanism is activated (the brake force is maintained).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and a system for controlling a braking equipment of a motor vehicle in order to activate the braking equipment at a standstill of the motor vehicle such that braking forces are built up which are necessary to keep the motor vehicle in a state of standstill. To this end it is established on the basis of vehicle movements whether the vehicle is at a standstill. If vehicle movements are detected that cannot occur during driving modes of the motor vehicle, the motor vehicle is in a state of standstill. Subsequently, the braking equipment, and in particular a holding brake mechanism included in the braking equipment, are activated. In order to provide braking forces keeping the motor vehicle at a standstill also when it is on a slope, the braking equipment, and in particular the holding brake mechanism, are controlled in response of the vehicle inclination present in the state of standstill.

Abstract:
Proposed are a method and a device for controlling a braking system of a vehicle, braking force being maintained in at least one operating state at least one wheel of the vehicle while the braking pedal is actuated, independently of the degree of the pedal actuation. In this context, different conditions are provided jointly or alternatively for activating or deactivating the function.
Abstract:
A control system 32 and method for controlling neutral idle operation of a vehicle 10 is provided. The method includes measuring a brake pressure in a brake control line of vehicle 10. The control line communicates fluid to a brake 128 coupled to a wheel of vehicle 10. The method further includes determining an incline angle of vehicle 10. The method further includes determining a desired brake pressure based on the incline angle. The desired brake pressure is a pressure sufficient to allow the vehicle brakes to maintain vehicle 10 at a predetermined position. Finally, the method includes disengaging a transmission clutch 46 torsionally coupling a vehicle engine 12 to a wheel 24 when the measured brake pressure is greater than the desired brake pressure to initiate neutral idle operation.
