A composite material having a transparent reinforcement constituent encased in a transparent matrix constituent is described and illustrated herein. The reinforcement constituent and matrix constituent are selected so that a difference of the refractive index between the two constituents is less than 0.003 for visible light and across a temperature range of at least 0 degrees centigrade to 50 degrees centigrade.

A composition, containing at least 50% by weight of a polyamide fraction which comprises: a) from 50 to 95 parts by weight of a polyamide having as copolymerized units bis(4-aminocyclohexyl)methane (PACM) and a linear dicarboxylic acid having from 8 to 18 C atoms; and b) from 50 to 5 parts by weight of a linear aliphatic polyamide having an average of from 8 to 12 C atoms in the monomer units, where the sum of the parts by weight of a) and b) is 100 is provided. The composition can be processed to give a moulded article having high transparency, high toughness and high resistance to chemicals, to solvents and to stress cracking.

Abstract:
A transparent article includes a continuous polyester matrix having at least one incompatible filler dispersed therein. The incompatible filler provides domains in the polyester matrix, each domain having a particular dimension, thus providing a range of dimensions for the domains in the article. To create haze, the dimensions are within the range of from about 380 nm to about 720 nm. Once the range of dimensions is determined, a light absorbent composition can be found which absorbs light at a range of wavelengths that at least substantially covers the range of dimensions of the domains. In doing so, it has been found that the haze of the article can be substantially masked. Method for producing the article and for masking the haze are also provided.

In one aspect, a hydrophilic silicone macromer is of the Formula 1: X—Si(R1)(R2)O—(Si(R3)(R4)O)a—Si(R5)(R6)—Y (1) wherein R1, R2, R3 R4, R5 and R6 are independently selected from a monovalent linear, branched, or cyclic radical with 1 to 50 carbon atoms, that can optionally contain a heteroatom or I; I is RL-RP; Y is a free radical polymerization-effective hydrophilic group with the general structure:RL-RP—Z; RL is a linking residue from a non-isomerizable hydrosilylation effective terminal olefin comprising the general structure —CH2—C(RbR7)—(CR8R9)m, the subscript n is selected from integers from 1 to 10; R7, R8, and R9 can be selected from hydrogen and a mono-valent hydrocarbon radical with 1 to 10 carbon atoms that optionally contain a heteroatom; Rb is selected from a monovalent hydrocarbon radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms; RP is a spacer group comprising a diavelant hydrophilic organic radical with 0 to 100 carbon atoms and optionally contains heteroatoms, and X is a free radical polymerizable group. There is provided a conductive polymer having high conductivity with excellent heat resistance. Using the conductive polymer, there can be provided solid electrolytic capacitors having low ESR, high reliability, and less leakage current. There can be also provided conductive films having high conductivity and superior heat resistance. There is provided a conductive polymer dispersion liquid obtained by a method in which in the presence of a copolymer from styrenesulfonic acid, and at least one kind of a non-sulfonic acid monomer selected from the group consisting of methacrylate, acrylate, and an unsaturated hydrocarbon containing alkoxysilane compound or its hydrolysate, thiophene or its derivative is polymerized by oxidation polymerization in water, or in an aqueous solution comprising a mixture of water and a water miscible solvent to produce the conductive polymer dispersion liquid. Using the conductive polymer as solid electrolyte, a solid electrolyte capacitor can be provided. Also, using the conductive polymer, a conductive film can be provided.
