Abstract:
A dual carcass flexible hose comprising a first carcass for conveying the fluid and a secondary carcass surrounding the first carcass in such a way as to define a space for retention of the fluid and in which the first and secondary carcasses are connected at each end to a flanged metal tubular connector having an annular metal element surrounding the tubular connector adjacent its flanged end and defining, between its wall and the outer surface of the connect or, an annular chamber in fluid communication with the space between the first and secondary carcass, and a leakage detector device for detecting leakage of the conveyed fluid from the first to the secondary carcass, disposed in fluid communication with the said annular chamber.
Abstract:
A connector for connecting two pipes into abutment with each other uses mateable hub members with external flanges. One of the hub members has a concentric recess with a gross tapered surface and a fine tapered surface. The gross tapered surface is inclined at a greater angle relative to the axis than the fine tapered surface. The other hub member has a protruding guide member which will contact the gross and fine tapered surfaces when the hub members are brought together. First the gross tapered surface will decrease misalignment, then the fine tapered surface will complete the alignment of the hub members. A seal is located on seal seats in the hub members. The seal is metal and is carried in a position prior to connection so as to avoid damaging contact of the other hub member when the hub members are brought together.
Abstract:
The leakage of hazardous fluid from the pipe sections or from between the pipe sections is monitored by butting concentric pipe section sets which define a cylindrical leakage collection and monitoring means to a special fitting which has a pair of seals and a passage to the collection means therebetween, so that leakage at the pipe intersections is collected and passed to the normal pipe-defined leakage collection and detection apparatus used to monitor pipe section leakage.
Abstract:
A flexible hose comprising a main fluid retaining carcass and a secondary fluid retaining carcass enclosing at least part of said main carcass, said hose including means to collect and detect fluid leaking from said main carcass. Said means comprises a circumferential opening formed in a nipple portion of an end fitting to which corresponding one ends of said main and secondary carcasses are connected and an axially extending passage leading from said opening to a leak detector.
Abstract:
A corrosion monitoring device for pipe systems according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a pipe having a first pipe portion and a second pipe portion. The first pipe portion includes a wall having a first wall thickness, and the second pipe portion includes a wall having a second wall thickness that is greater than the first wall thickness. The corrosion monitoring device further includes a structure coupled to the pipe and defining a sealed chamber between the structure and at least the first pipe portion, and a sensor for sensing a pressure in the sealed chamber or for sensing a liquid in the sealed chamber. Example corrosion monitoring devices and methods for monitoring corrosion in pipe systems are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A flexible pipe includes one or more outer layers, a primary liner disposed internal to the one or more outer layers, and a removable liner disposed internal to the primary liner. Additionally, a flexible piping system includes the flexible pipe with a first end and a second end. Further, an annulus is disposed between the primary liner and the removable liner. Furthermore, a pressure port is provided and extends from the annulus to an outer surface of the flexible piping system. An end fitting is disposed at the first end of the flexible pipe.
