Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel is provides and includes a pair of substrates arranged face to face so as to sandwich a liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal device includes on one of the pair of substrates: a lower electrode; an upper electrode formed on a surface of the lower substrate through an insulating layer, in which plural slits are formed in each sub-pixel; and an alignment film formed so as to cover a surface of the upper electrode and the insulating layer. The plural slits have different widths at both ends of slits in a longitudinal direction.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes an auxiliary electrode between adjacent first and second scan signal lines, first and second thin film transistors with gate electrodes connected to the first and second scan signal lines, respectively, first and second pixel electrodes connected to one of a source electrode and a drain electrode of the first and second thin film transistors, respectively, a data signal line that is connected to the other of the source electrode and the drain electrode of the first and second thin film transistors, and a common electrode facing the pixel electrodes via a liquid crystal layer. The first and second pixel electrodes are adjacent along the data signal line. A potential difference between the auxiliary and common electrodes is greater than a potential difference between the first pixel electrode and the common electrode and a potential difference between the second pixel electrode and the common electrode.

Abstract: Provided is a method of manufacturing a display device that includes a structure formed so as to protrude at least in a normal direction of a first substrate, and an electrode formed in a side wall surface of the structure, the method including: forming a transparent conductive film for the electrode; forming a low-affinity material having a low affinity for a resist film on an upper surface of the transparent conductive film formed in a head surface of the structure; forming a resist film by applying a liquid resist material to an upper layer of the transparent conductive film and then fixing the resist material; forming an opening that exposes the transparent conductive film in the resist film by removing the low-affinity material; etching the transparent conductive film which is a lower layer using the resist film as a protective film; and removing the resist film.

Abstract: A display device includes first and second substrates with a liquid crystal layer therebetween, video signal lines and scan lines on one of the substrates, and display electrodes connected to a video signal line through an active device. Pixel areas are defined by the video signal and scan signal lines, and each pixel area has the display electrode, a reference electrode and the active device. Display electrodes are arranged on the first substrate and reference electrodes are arranged the second substrate. A part of the reference electrodes have a plurality layers and is conductive. A sealing material is formed between the substrates and along a periphery thereof and include conductive beads. Abstract: Electrode slit portions are formed in a pixel electrode in a direction of crossing a slit for dividing a liquid crystal layer into a plurality of domains. A titanium oxide film is formed so as to be exposed to the liquid crystal layer side via the electrode slit portions, the titanium oxide film having a relative dielectric constant higher than that of an organic film formed at positions corresponding to the electrode slit portions. By the titanium oxide film, an electric field of each domain is set, angles between the director in the vicinity of the electrode slit portion and transmission axes of polarizing plates are made to approximately 45°, and a decrease in transmittance caused by the falling direction of the director can be suppressed. The transmittance and contrast ratio are secured, and simultaneously an excellent wide viewing angle range can be obtained.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device comprises a TFT substrate, a CF substrate, a liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy filled between the substrates, a pixel electrode provided on the TFT substrate, and an auxiliary electrode formed around the pixel electrode.
