Abstract:
A carburized La2O3 and Lu2O3 co-doped Mo filament cathode and its fabrication method, which belongs to the technical field of rare earth-refractory metal cathodes. The rare earth oxides are La2O3 and Lu2O3, and the total concentration of rare earth oxides ranges from 2.0-5.0 wt. %. The La2O3 and Lu2O3 co-doped molybdenum oxide powers are prepared by Sol-Gel method. La2O3 and Lu2O3 co-doped Mo powers are prepared by two calcining steps. Then pressing and sintering the mixed powders to obtain the molybdenum rods; operating mechanical and heat processes of the molybdenum rods to obtain molybdenum filament. Operating electrolytic cleaning, straightening, winding modeling and cutting treatments with Mo filament to obtain the un-carburized La2O3 and Lu2O3 co-doped Mo cathode. And then carburize the filament cathode at a high temperature for a short time to obtain a cathode with high carburization degree. And then operate the out-gassing treatment and activation treatment with the cathode at a high temperature to obtain an environmental and non-radioactive cathode with good emission current and emission stability.
Abstract:
To provide a magnetron improved in high efficiency and load stability while suppressing costs. By shortening the height of vane Vh so that the ratio of the height of vane Vh to a gap between end hats EHg (EHg/Vh) satisfies a condition 1.12≦EHg/Vh≦1.26, an input side pole piece-vane gap IPpvg becomes larger than an output side pole piece-vane gap OPpvg, and an input side end hat-vane gap IPevg becomes larger than an output side end hat-vane gap OPevg, load stability at high efficiency can be improved while shortening the height of vane Vh. Therefore, it is possible to provide a magnetron improved in high efficiency and load stability while suppressing costs.
Abstract:
A high frequency cathode heater supply for a microwave source includes a SMPS inverter and an isolation transformer having a primary winding arranged to be powered by the SMPS inverter, a monitor winding passing through primary core assemblies of the primary winding and a secondary winding arranged for connection to the cathode heater. A current monitor is arranged to monitor a current in the primary windings. Signal processing modules are arranged to receive a first input signal from the monitor winding indicative of a voltage across the cathode heater and a second input signal from the current monitor indicative of a current through the cathode heater. The signal processing modules are arranged to output a control signal to the SMPS inverter to control power supplied to the cathode heater dependent on a monitored resistance of, or monitored power supplied to, the cathode heater as determined from the first input signal and the second input signal.
Abstract:
A magnetron has an anode and a cathode. The cathode includes two parts joined by sleeves of ferrous alloy spaced by a sleeve of insulating material. The ferrous alloy sleeves are adapted to be connected to opposite poles of a power supply for heating the cathode. A high frequency power supply is used to heat the cathode. The ferrous alloy sleeves have a surface coating of conductive material. The currents induced by the magnetic field generated by the high frequency currents of the power supply are largely confined to the conductive coating due to the skin effect, avoiding the heating of and losses in the ferrous alloy itself which would otherwise ensue.
Abstract:
A magnetron cathode comprises electron emissive material included in a cathode body and a support structure for supporting the cathode body. The support structure has a longitudinal axis and includes a first part having a first cylinder integrally formed with a first end hat and a second part having a second cylinder integrally formed with a second end hat. The first cylinder and the second cylinder have an overlapping region in the longitudinal axial direction and are joined together. The cathode body is located around the first cylinder of the first part of the support structure and is joined to the first cylinder by a brazed joint. The outer surface of the first cylinder is grooved at the brazed joint.

Impregnated rare earth metal-containing barium-aluminum-scandate cathodes with a rare earth oxide doped tungsten matrix and methods for the fabrication thereof are described. In one aspect, an impregnated rare earth metal-containing barium-aluminum-scandate cathode comprises: a rare earth oxide doped tungsten matrix, and an impregnated active substance. The active substance comprises scandium oxide (Sc2O3), a second rare earth oxide, and barium calcium aluminate, wherein the molar ratio of Ba:Ca:Al is about 4:1:1.
