Abstract:
A receiver decodes quantized and unquantized wanted data symbols from received signal samples. The receiver comprises a control adapted to process a group of currently received signal samples to determine a corresponding current set of unquantized wanted data symbols and an interfering waveform representative of a sum of other unwanted data symbols by subtracting an amount of a previously decoded set of quantized wanted symbols and a previously determined interfering waveform. A quantizer quantizes the determined current set of unquantized wanted symbols to obtain corresponding quantized symbols.
Abstract:
A vector tree correlator correlates over received data spread at differing spreading rates or, over differing lengths of spreading sequence. When the maximum length sequence has a length N that is an integer power of 2, or 2M, then the vector tree correlator is formed from M levels. Level (1) is formed of add/subtract logic units, and Level (2) through Level (M) are formed of adders. Add/subtract logic units each receive a pair of received signal samples and combines the received signal samples based on a control signal input. The control signal input is derived from the locally generated spreading sequence. The output of the adder at the top of the tree is the result of the length N correlation, while output tap points at different levels of the tree each provide a correlation for one of the different spreading rates of length 2m, 1
Abstract:
Method for transmitting a word representative of transmission parameters respectively allocated to the mobile stations in communication with a base station of a mobile telecommunication system, wherein it includes the step of: including, in each transmission burst a midamble resulting from the sum of selected midambles among all the available midambles, said selection being done by said base station in relation with a word so that a selected midamble corresponds to a binary element of said word equal to a first value and a non-selected midamble corresponds to a binary element of said word equal to a second value, and considering a word the elements of which are in one-to-one relationship with the temporal positions of the estimations respectively corresponding to said available midambles.
Abstract:
A subscriber unit for controlling transmission power during the establishment of a communication channel utilizes the transmission of a short code during initial power ramp-up. The short code is a sequence which has a much shorter period than a conventional access code. The ramp-up starts from an initial power level which is quickly increased, while repeatedly transmitting the short code until a detection signal is received by the base station. The use of short codes limits power overshoot and interference.
Abstract:
A spreading system and method for CDMA applications that requires fewer integer multiplications. User data is spread using real or complex integer based spreading codes of length SF to SFmax chips. At least one of the codes is of the form jn·ν[n] where ν[n] is a spreading code. The invention provides increased user separation using a plurality of spreading codes.
Abstract:
In an information transmission method, a radio communications system, a base station and a mobile station, a TBS size, a modulation scheme and the number of codes in a multicode are converted into identification data having a relatively smaller data size before being transmitted to a destination of communication. The TBS size is identified by using, in combination, an identification code identifying a channelization code set, an identification code identifying a modulation scheme, and an identification code obtained by converting a combination of the number of codes in a multicode and a modulation pattern identification (TFRC) into a corresponding code. Accordingly, the data size for TBS size identification is reduced.
Abstract:
A subscriber unit, used for communicating in voiced communications at a first data rate and communicating at a second data rate for other data, suppresses a selected communication during communication rate modification. A determination is made as to whether the transmission requires a change in data rate, and a switching circuit responds by engaging a different communication channel. Blocking circuitry blocks transmissions until the different data rate is established. This provides an optimum data rate, while preserving the integrity of the data transmitted.
Abstract:
A method and system for canceling interference in a code division multiple access (CDMA) network. A transmitted signal is spread using a specific spreading sequence. The signal includes a plurality of symbols having a specific spreading factor that differs from the length of the spreading sequence. The transmitted signal is received and filtered using a plurality of despreading sequences to recover the transmitted signal, wherein each despreading sequence corresponds to a particular part of the spreading sequence and is used to despread a portion of the received signal that was spread using the corresponding part of the spreading sequence. Each despreading sequence is adapted to cancel interference caused by other signals, wherein such interference is associated with the part of the spreading sequence that corresponds to the despreading sequence.
Abstract:
A plurality of communication signals is received. Each communication signal has an associated code. At least two of the communication signals has a different spreading factor. The associated codes have a scrambling code period. A total system response matrix has blocks. Each block has one dimension of a length M and another dimension of a length based on in part M and the spreading factor of each communication. M is based on the scrambling code period. Data of the received plurality of communication signals is received using the constructed system response matrix.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for controlling a reverse link data rate of packet data in a mobile communication system. There is provided an apparatus and method for controlling a reverse data rate of packet data taking into consideration the state of a mobile terminal, which is capable of sufficiently using reverse capacity and adjusting for a sudden variation of reverse receipt sensitivity and an effect of interference in a mobile communication system. A method for providing information for reverse data rate control of packet data in a mobile terminal of a mobile communication system, comprises the steps of determining and updating the status of reverse data rate control factors of the mobile terminal every predetermined period, and transmitting status report information in a reverse direction over predetermined channels, the status report information based on the updated factors.
