Abstract:
Gasoline of reduced combustion chamber deposit attained by addition of, as additive, a reaction product of polyoxyisopropylenediamine-maleic anhydride-N-tallow-1,3-propane diamine.
Abstract:
A keto-acid amide derived from the amination of a bicyclic keto-acid with an N-alkyl-alkylene diamine. The keto-acid amides are useful as carburetor detergents for motor fuel compositions.
Abstract:
Industrial fuels comprised of mixtures of asphaltenic heavy hydrocarbon fractions and light fractions are provided wherein the flocculation of asphaltenes is minimized by the addition of from 50 to 5000 ppm of an additive composed of a constituent A and/or a constituent B to render the composition homogeneous and stable. Constituent A results from the condensation of a linear N-alkyl polyamine with a cyclic anhydride and constituents B results from the reaction of an ethoxylated amine with a carboxylic acid of C.sub.8 to C.sub.30.
Abstract:
Disclosed are additives which are useful as dispersants in lubricating oils, gasolines, marine crankcase oils and hydraulic oils. In particular, disclosed are alkenyl or alkyl succinimides which have been modified by treatment with glycidol.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are additives which are useful as dispersants and detergents in lubricating oils. In particular, this invention is directed toward polyamino alkenyl or alkyl succinimides which have been modified by treatment with a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein W is oxygen or sulfur; X is oxygen, sulfur or R.sub.5 N
Abstract:
Metal salts and amides of alkyl-lactam acetic acids are prepared by reacting gamma-hydrocarbyl butyrolactone acetic acid compounds derived from alkenylsuccinic anhydrides with metal compounds and amines or amines alone. High molecular weight lactam acid salts and amides and metal complexes and metal carbamates thereof are useful as detergents or dispersants in organic industrial fluids. Another aspect of this invention is a method of preparing lactone acetic acids in yields up to 90% conversion from alkenylsuccinic anhydrides.
Abstract:
An additive concentrate for incorporation into wax containing petroleum fuel oil compositions to improve low temperature flow properties comprising an oil solution containing:(a) 3% to 90 wt. % of a C.sub.30 -C.sub.300 oil-soluble nitrogen compound wax crystal growth inhibitor having at least one straight C8-C40 alkyl chain and partial esters, and(b) at least one mole per mole of (a) of an organic acid capable of hydrogen bonding with (a) to improve the solubility of (a) in the oil.
Abstract:
Novel condensation products of N-alkyl-alkylenediamines and isopropylidene malonate are prepared by refluxing the reactants in solvents inert to the reactants, removing this solvent and extracting the reaction system with an inert solvent such as xylene.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an in situ or "one pot" process for making a fuel additive comprising reacting an excess of at least one N-primary alkylalkylene diamine with maleic anhydride in the presence of from 20 to 36 weight percent of a mineral oil reaction diluent at a temperature ranging from ambient to about 225.degree. F. and recovering a product containing a primary aliphatic hydrocarbon amino alkylene substituted asparagine, an N-primary alkylalkylene diamine in the reaction oil with the product having a by-product succinimide content not in excess of 1.0 weight percent, based on the weight of asparagine present.
Abstract:
Alcohols may be inhibited against corrosion by addition thereto of a reaction product of a maleic anhydride and certain amines typified by alkyl isopropoxy aminopropyl amines.
